Why is it that DTE customers get “hit the hardest”?

It’s because for the last decade, they’ve prioritized maximizing their profits and minimizing grid upgrades so when storms hit, no matter the magnitude, we are screwed. DTE eats good though; billions in rate increases for you, billions in profits for them.

How have they been able to get away with this?

They spend millions buying politicians in Lansing to avoid accountability or scrutiny through the law. They run ads for them, donate to their campaign, fund “non-profits” that are connected to state lawmakers.

It’s bipartisan too - Republicans and Democrats always find a way to sell out to DTE and Consumers Energy.
