@metallidan I’ve been enjoying Athletic Brewing’s “Run Wild,” which is ostensibly an IPA but seems more along the lines of a Sam Adams, to me. But I’m no connoisseur.
@metallidan Last thing (probably): one could spend a day going from island to island in the San Juans on the ferry from Anacortes. It used to be that ferry travel between the islands was free, once you paid to Anacortes. Maybe still? Each has its own character and things to explore.
A climber in Dublin named Robert McCaffrey scaled a wall using only his feet. He said he didn't think much of the challenge until the footage went viral. He told Storyful that he realized 'to non-climbers, it was quite incredible to imagine' that someone could do this.
@rumblestripvt If you live in the town that I think you live in, I think the fiber people are / is CV Fiber. But I don’t think they have connected to any houses yet. They have an email notification thing you can sign up for. Just waiting, myself, here in outer Adamant.

Before you begin your thinkpiece, the Supreme Court DID NOT strike down Affirmative Action
Admission preferences for legacies, donors, employee families and special recommendations are still allowed
The Court struck down Affirmative Action For everyone except WHITE PEOPLE
If SCOTUS was serious about their ludicrous “colorblindness” claims, they would have abolished legacy admissions, aka affirmative action for the privileged.
70% of Harvard’s legacy applicants are white. SCOTUS didn’t touch that - which would have impacted them and their patrons.
@rumblestripvt I agree with Berry that very few people are listening to rural people. Is that just a failure if the left? Maybe. But most if not all of the rural problems he describes have been nurtured for decades by deregulation and the pro-corporate policies of the right.
@metallidan Someone I know sold her section 302 pair 10 days ago for $600 each. StubHub or whatever had suggested pricing them between 1000 and 1300, but she felt guilty pricing them so high. Then they sold instantaneously, presumably to a bot, so she felt guilty for pricing them so “low.”
NPR is not state affiliated media. It is public media. The NYT is not propaganda. It is the most robust news organization in the English speaking world. The bias as to who is being targeted on this site by its leadership is so very clear. And it’s not a small thing.
DID YOU KNOW?
Male dromedary camels have an organ called a dulla in their throat, a large, inflatable sac they extrude from his mouth to assert dominance and attract females.
