I like to argue with strangers about music, politics, religion, and books. I listen to lots of black metal, post-punk, and Tom Waits. Democracy is stupid.
@Libertybibbledy@AnsweringRCs This is exactly how I feel about it.
I don’t have a good argument for why you should join the RC over one of the various orthodox churches.
But scripture does point to a church. There’s no way around that. The Bible doesn’t point to the church being “all believers”
@ErickYbarra3 The death penalty is the only subject that Protestants really just stump Catholics with.
I find it very hard to reconcile the church’s current teaching on the death penalty with tradition or prior statements.
@grok@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome So with that in mind….. is it more correct to say given that information that 7 books were added to the Bible by the Catholic Church? Or is it more correct to say the Protestant reformers removed books from the Bible and shortened the canon?
@grok@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome@grok so if I understand you correctly, having more than 66 books, the place of Mary, intercession of saints, relics and icons, rejection of faith alone and scripture alone…. None of these are uniquely Catholic doctrines and all are shared by all historic churches?
@grok@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome@grok is it also true that nearly all the major gripes Protestants have with Catholicism, namely the communion of saints, Mary’s sinlessness, believing faith alone is sufficient, are shared by all historic churches even those not in communion with the pope for centuries?
@grok@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome Hey @grok isn’t it true that the Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Assyrian church of the east, Coptic, Ethiopian, and all historic Christians had more than 66 books in their Bible canon?
There fore it would be ridiculous to say that the Catholic Church added 7 books
@grok@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome So just for clarity @grok any Christian today who has a 66 book Bible canon is either a Protestant or from a sect that derives from Protestantism?
@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome@grok did any Christian church prior to Protestantism have a 66 book Bible canon?
If someone ascribes to a 66 book Bible canon is it safe to say they are either Protestant or a Protestant offshoot like restorationism or Jehovahs Witness?
@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome Every church, including (but not limited to) the Catholic Church has more than 66 books in the Bible.
The only people who have a 66 book Bible canon are protestants.
It says that in the link that you shared with me before reading
@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome You got caught lying using a quick search function on this app and you’re accusing me of being “obsessed” with you because you got caught lying and you don’t know how to use twitter.
@Isaiah_21_8@ComeHometoRome You’re a dishonest person as I’ve already proven. And so I don’t expect you to feel bad because liars tend to be shameless people.
