This is Debbie Causey, a long-time pastor at Andy Stanley's North Point church and director of their Care network of ministries. Up until recently she was a board member at Renovus, a pro-LGBTQ+ activist and advocacy group led by many leaders within North Point.
She's sitting with Amy Blakeslee, who for years was the Director of 'Parent Connect' at North Point, an org she started. Here's how she described its origins in her bio for a Queer conference she was speaking at:
"Hello! My name is Amy. I identify as gay, my pronouns are she/her, and I’m the proud parent of three adult kids, one of whom also identifies as gay. Over the past ten years I had the privilege of meeting with hundreds of parents of LGBTQ+ children through my position on the Care staff at North Point Community Church.
As more and more parents reached out to the church for support, I began meeting with them in their homes. Parent Connect was birthed, one of the first church-based ministries in the nation created specifically for Christian parents of LGBTQ+ kids."
@catholicbob@Protestia I deal with this in my book "A Biblical Perspective On Capital Punishment" you can download it for free today at https://t.co/41t2Rr3IQc
Holiness preacher Nathan Cox preaches that anyone who doesn't follow all of the strict “Holiness standards” (which forbids jewelry, wedding rings, makeup, hair dye, cutting women’s hair, beards on men, short sleeves, etc.) shouldn't be considered or treated like fellow believers
'Christianity Today' has such an inability to read their room, their takeaway is that they are PROUD of the fact that they didn't change anything about the 'Elisabeth Elliot is maybe bisexual' article, and want us to congratulate them for it.
This is basically "sorry you were upset." This is the whole of the new Editor-In-Chief's response:
"I know many people have been deeply upset by this article. The hardest part of our work is handling controversial subjects like this. We believe every story deserves fair treatment, guided by truth and grace."
ZERO self-awareness.
For those who asked: One of the quibbles, which should perhaps read 'very major concerns' is his church situation. Very unclear if he attends a biblical church, with the last public thing is that he just started up some house church. He's also affirmed Benny Hinn and Copeland and is way too friendly with them, including saying' Hinn's book about the HOLY spirit is the best he's ever seen. In a lot of ways Crawford has the discernment of a cringy 12 year old girl in a Hot Topic store, and that's disconcerting. He has a lot of influence in his space, and while there is much to commend, there is much to caution.
Appreciate Bryce for this. We have some quibbles with him, sure, but he's more direct and bold than the vast majority of Christian pastors or leaders that we've seen when given the opportunity to interview 'prominent' folk. They could learn a lesson from him.
SteveWillDoIt BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS telling Bryce Crawford he’s 100% CONVINCED he’s going to HEAVEN because of how much MONEY he gives away and how SELFLESS he is, only for Bryce to explain that no amount of MONEY can BUY your way into heaven 😲👀
