In March 2025, a trader built a $445M Bitcoin short using 40× leverage on Hyperliquid. Its size, direction and liquidation price were publicly visible—giving other traders a clear level to target. A group publicly organized an attempt to force the position into liquidation. The trader responded by adding $5M in collateral, increasing the available margin and avoiding being forced out. The attempt ultimately failed—but the message was clear: transparency can directly influence how the market trades against your position.
