I had to lie down after this 🙌🏻🙏🏻 @PeterBradshaw1
★★★★★ "What a thoroughly wonderful sophomore feature from the British director @BASharrock – witty, poignant, marvellously composed and shot, moving and even weirdly gripping." https://t.co/7BTFdWQEtx
This indie film industry is FULL of wealth and privilege, they are the only people who are able to do this full time without another job. It is quite frankly appalling that we allow so much talent, and with it the cultural value of their stories, to be pushed out.
Limbo is one of the best films of the last ten years & @BASharrock is a genius. Please don’t be put off by the fact that I’m in this film for a couple of minutes
Tonight is the night! To mark #WorldRefugeeDay we’re having our network premiere of #limbofilm on @film4 and what better way to do with a Limbo-Local Hero double bill 💪🙌 catch me chatting about Local Hero for @Film4 40th bday ❤️

“I am struck by the alarming level of tolerance to serious human rights violations against refugees, asylum seekers and migrants that has developed across Europe,” says Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, @Dunja_Mijatovic, in Lampedusa today. https://t.co/SVFzno16TO

The Filmhouse is not a relic of the golden film days, it’s the most important cinema in Edinburgh and it was shockingly allowed to fall into the hands of administrators - it must be saved! #SaveTheFilmhouse
Iranian actor Taraneh Alidoosti has been arrested
for denouncing state murder of protestor.
I've just made film about Mussolini. This is Iranian Fascism. Regime is like the blackshirts.
Shame on it for its misogyny. It continues to wreck one of the world's greatest countries.
This means three attempts at keeping it as a cinema have now failed and clearly not for a lack of interested parties. It’s baffling that the future of the Filmhouse seems to now be a mere financial equation.
Congratulations to @LimboFilm🎊🎊, a UK 🇬🇧film directed by @BASharrock which won 3 awards at the Algiers🇩🇿 International Cinema Festival. Limbo won the Grand Prize, the Audience Award and a medal by the @UNESCO CICT International Council for Film, Television and Audio-visual.
🎥 New crowdfunding campaign launched to “raise £2 million in a fortnight” to secure the future of the @filmhouse building in Edinburgh as an “an independent and cultural cinema hub.” 🎥

The thought has crossed my mind. The woeful current crop of councillors seem far more interested in trees and cycle lanes than sustaining the city’s cultural treasures.
I realise there are mixed views on this, but I think Edinburgh should fight tooth & nail to ensure this remains a home for cinema. Historic picture houses have been revived & rejuvenated across Scotland in modern times. It would be a tragedy if Edinburgh cannot do the same.
