Please stop spreading misinformation. There's not a housing shortage in LA. There are 3x vacant homes in LA county to every unhoused individual/family in LA. We have 0 shortages. We have a surplus of greedy people in control of housing.
As there’s an ongoing shortage of permanent housing, most participants remain in Interim Housing after their PRK site closes, where we continue to work with them on finding a permanent home.

It is HOT as hell this week. Here are more details on the 5 Cooling Centers in the City of LA showing capacity & times.
Canoga Park is the busiest, the other locations are EMPTY or not busy. When asked why? Centers said people don't know about it. The city needs to do outreach.
Remember how we said that there are only 5 cooling centers in the City of LA while temperatures hit 100 degrees?
I called 1 of the cooling centers (Canoga Park) to see how the first day went. They said it was busy! 😊 HOWEVER, they only had capacity for 15 people... 15 people 😭
Hi friends, June is the final month before we report our fundraising numbers. Can you donate to help us have a strong showing? LA residents can donate up to $214 and it will be multiplied 6 times (we get an additional $1,284)!
Thank you for your support!

What can the City Controller do? Audit the city's handling of the summer heat waves and provide recommendations, point out the inefficiencies / ineffectiveness, and even make a big fuss about it to push the city to do something.
Hell yeah, we are doing that and will do that. 😡
In some parts of the City of LA, it's going to hit a 100 degrees. Last year, there was an article of 3 unhoused people in LA who died on the same day due to the heat.
It amazes me how the city knows this is going to happen every year & prepare for it w/ 5 cooling centers.

On this ONE night, the LAPD booked $848,248 of overtime at a vigil. 🕯️
@LAPDChiefMoore, we will audit your department. We already are. In office, we will have a Controller's team at every major protest & audit LAPD's performance. We will also audit overtime booked & timesheets.
Person yelling in the back: I WORKED 900 HOURS A WEEK WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE TO GET BASIC HUMAN NECESSITIES 🤬
Me: Why don't we break the system that makes people work 900 hours a week? 🤔
Person yelling: NO I SUFFERED FROM THIS EXPLOITATIVE SYSTEM, SO EVERYONE ELSE HAS TO TOO! 🤬
"What kind of world do you want to live in?" 🌍
Me: a world where people have housing, good paying jobs, education, healthcare, services, accessible transportation, & a clean green environment regardless of their income. 😊
Person yelling in the back: WOW, YOU ARE TERRIBLE! 🤬
"Then there is Kenneth Mejia; the CPA likely won’t pull in dollars on the level of his competitors, but he’ll appeal to progressive voters fed up with the status quo"
We may not have big money BUT we have the people. Can you chip in to help us win? 💚

Did you know? 🤔
The LAPD's budget would make it the 62nd largest military budget in the world at $3.1B! 🚔 The LAPD budget (which takes 27% of the total city's budget of a population of 4 million Angelenos) is more than the military budgets of Peru, Syria, Czechia, & Venezuela!
On March 25, 179 people were arrested at a peaceful vigil for our unhoused neighbors who were evicted from Echo Park Lake. The police knew no one was a threat but still decided to arrest 179 people. 🚔

Wow, shocked that a gang of armed fascists lied and deceived people in order to remove them. Cops literally have no idea what they are doing, they aren't social workers, and they don't have housing. In all cases, they make things worse.
