The Imam of the Prophet’s Masjid, Shaykh Ali Al-Hudhaifi, may Allah protect him, memorized the Qur’an when he was old. He completed the memorization after the age of thirty, but he is proficient and hardly makes mistakes.
He was once asked about the strength of his memorization, and he said: I recite with the people when leading the prayer as the Imam, short of a surah, but when I pray the Sunnah prayers, I recite in each rak’ah a Hizb - that is, ten pages -...ah.
One of the students of knowledge says: I waited for Shaykh Al-Hudhaifi after the Magrib prayer to ask him, and when he got up to perform the regular Sunnah prayer, he remained praying for 40 minutes, during which he read a complete Juzz of the Holy Qur’an.. and the Shaykh completes the Qur’an every ten days by memorization..
The Shaykh, may Allah protect him, is one of the distinguished and proficient reciters. He is an Ijaazah in the ten recitations. He is also the head of the scholarly committee for reviewing the Qur’an of the Prophet’s city, and a member of the committee supervising the recording of recited Qur’an at the King Fahd Complex, for the printing of the Noble Qur’an. He has been an Imam in the Prophet’s Masjid for more than 40 years...
He is very firm against the people of Bid'ah.
May Allah prolong his life upon the Sunnah.

Lagos Vs Kano - By Suleiman A Suleiman.
They have much to compare between them. They both loom large in Nigerian political affairs. They are the two most populous and diverse cities in Nigeria. Kano could be more diverse than Lagos. There, you find descendants of Yemenis, Syrians, Lebanese, North Africans, Chadians, Malians, Nigeriens, Kanuris, Yorubas, Nupes, Edos, and many others, not to talk of Fulanis and other Hausas, who have become bona fide sons of the soil, bound together by tongue, creed, long residence and intermarriage. Lagos has much less of such a thing, and in the 1970s, it was also probably less of an industrial hub than Kano.
