It's right time for the International community and especially both those financing and those providing troops to Somalia's reconstruction and rebuilding efforts to cut the chase and close the door on the face of Somalia. If Somalia's former President @HassanSMohamud spent as much time in stealing from his country/people in rebuilding his country and its institutions, today's conference in Kampala of the 2nd Extraordinary Summit of Heads of States and Government of the troops contributing countries to the African Union Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and the endless headaches Somalia poses to its neighbours and the world at large wouldn't have been necessary. The international community and Somalia's donors knew all along that Hassan Sheikh was looting the country dry and put zero time and effort in rebuilding its institutions. They knew that his presidency was a lost cause. Because he was preoccupied with personal and family enrichment, Hassan Sheikh simply had no time for Somalia and her impoverished people. Now that his mandate has expired and he has nothing to show for his four years other than being filthy rich, he wants the international community to feel sorry for Somalia and renew the mandate of the forces keeping him and his family safe in Villa Somalia. Failed states like Somalia can only be reconstructed and helped if the the indigenous people and their leaders are appreciative of the foreign sacrifices and are willing to help their country stand on its feet. 36 years of the eclipse of the state in Somalia shows that the Somali elites want the status quo to continue. They want lord over Somalia as expatriates while their wives and children are safe in America, Europe (probably on social welfare) or Nairobi all paid for by benevolent donors. The time is now for the International community to hand Somalia back to the thieving Hassan Sheikh and his thieving associates. The world can't babysit Somalia for 40 years. It shouldn't.

The so called 1p 1 vote is a scam , its a selection process that has predetermined outcome , it’s just a rubber stamp to legalize the selection, eg the outcome of Galmudug regional leadership is already known . One will wonder why spend huge amount of resources to such sham election especially a country where millions are languishing abject poverty .

The discussion of Somalia's sub-national political landscape is quite ironic. It is said there will be an "election", yet the president has given the seats to certain candidates in the upcoming "dispensation." This is a contradiction in terms. This implies that the seats in South-West, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle are effectively owned by President @HassanSMohamud, who can easily hand them over to friends.

Subsequently, the president's party and the Election Commission will orchestrate a theatrical performance around his decision, finishing it off with a lineup, cameras, and computers. This is a joke. Why not simply make direct appointments?

The whole exercise reveals that the government's electoral and party systems are not suitable for the Somali context.
