GENERAL RABE'S WIFE FINALLY REVEALS HOW HE D!ED IN BANDITS' CAPTIVITY
Fresh details have emerged on the final moments of former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.), with sources claiming the retired military officer died in the arms of his wife while they were being held captive by bandits in Katsina State.
The latest account, reportedly obtained from Hajiya Amina Abubakar while she was receiving treatment after her rescue, appears to contradict the official position of the Katsina State Government that the retired general died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension.
We had earlier reported that General Rabe was abducted alongside his wife on May 30, 2026, along the Marabar MusawaโKafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
He later died in captivity, while his wife recently regained freedom after sustaining a gunshot wound.
According to Weekend Trust, a source who claimed to have spoken with Hajiya Amina during her hospitalisation said the widow insisted that her husband had no known history of diabetes or hypertension before the abduction.
โContrary to what the Katsina State Government said, which was widely circulated in both the social and conventional media, she told us that her husband did not have diabetes or hypertension. He was hale and hearty when they were abducted,โ the source said.
The source disclosed that the widow recalled noticing a sudden deterioration in the retired generalโs health after one of his legs became swollen while they were in captivity.
โShe told us that there was a likelihood that he was bitten by a snake because when she noticed that his leg was swollen, she drew the attention of the bandits, who reluctantly told her that he had been bitten by a snake,โ the source added.
The source said the kidnappers allegedly attempted to treat the swelling with local remedies, but General Rabeโs condition continued to worsen.
โThey brought some mashed leaves and applied them to the swollen leg, but there was no improvement as the Generalโs health deteriorated within a short time.
โShe told us that he died in her arms. It was a very difficult moment for her,โ the source said.
It was learnt that while the retired general was still alive, the kidnappers allegedly considered releasing his wife, but she declined, insisting she would only regain freedom alongside her husband.
Following the retired officerโs death, the Defence Headquarters said it deliberately refrained from making public comments about the abduction in order not to jeopardise rescue efforts.
The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Samaila Uba, said the Armed Forces and other security agencies deployed significant resources to secure the release of the retired general.
โMaj Gen Abubakar served the nation with distinction and held many appointments, including spokesperson of various military formations as well as spokesman for the Armed Forces of Nigeria as Director Defence Information,โ Uba said.
โHe made immense contributions to counter-insurgency operations, professional development of the Armed Forces and numerous other commendable and outstanding impacts.
โHis commitment to duty and to the unity of Nigeria remains a shining example for all personnel of the Armed Forces."
Meanwhile, a security source disclosed that investigations were ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the kidnappersโ apparent attempt to flee their hideout shortly before troops arrived in the area.
The source said security agencies were probing whether information about the planned rescue mission may have leaked.
โBefore the troops were dispatched, the location was carefully mapped and all the coordinates sorted out,โ the source said.
โOf course, we know some of the bandits have access to the internet and information. It remains curious why they attempted to flee the location where they kept the General, his wife and others hostage for days.

Kwankwaso received a lot of money from this government. In December 2023 alone, he received โฆ1 billion and โฆ50,000, supposedly to build a house.
He also received โฆ525 million to build an office. Then, still in December 2023, he received another โฆ1.2404 billion to purchase two vehicles.
Furthermore, in June 2024, he received โฆ100.08 million for medical expenses, and another โฆ510.213 million for a vacation.
These are funds he received from the Kano State Treasury. I am not making false accusations against him. If he disagrees, he should take me to court.

FORMER SDP CHAIRMAN GABAM ARRAIGNED IN COURT FOR FRAUD
The trial of a former National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Shehu Gabam, for his alleged involvement in fraudulent activities, continues before the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone Two, Abuja.
Gabam, Chukwuma Ogbonna and Uchechukwu are alleged to have fraudulently converted 740 million naira party funds to personal use, contravening SDP party guidelines, for which they were expelled from the SDP.
Prosecution counsel, Sandra Agba, told the court they are still working to obtain a key exhibit relevant to the case.
Supreme Court verdict in May 2026 had effectively given effect to the leadership of Professor Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as SDP National Chairman.
A must read: Some Kachalla Terrorists from ohaofia kidnapped two young girls and demanded โฆ20 million ransom, โฆ10 million for each of them.
The youths of Ohaofia did not wait for the governor.
They did not wait for politicians. They did not wait for anybody. They organized themselves, went into the bush, rescued their two sisters, and apprehended the kidnappers.
The most important thing is that the girls were brought back alive.
Surprisingly, this story did not make major headlines across the country. Yet, it is one of those stories that shows the courage, unity, and determination that still exist in our communities.
The people of Ohaofia stood up for their own when it mattered most.
Whether this is the direction communities should take in the face of growing insecurity is a conversation Nigerians must have.
One thing is certain: the youths of Ohaofia have shown courage that many people will not forget.
Kudos to Ohaofia Youths.
They collected โฆ500 million and still kill*d him.๐
Alhaji Bala Sanin Kawo, a respected businessman, farmer, and community benefactor from Dandume, was abducted by bรฃndits and tragically murdered despite the huge ransom reportedly paid for his release.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: these bรฃndits are ruthless criminals. Paying ransom may secure temporary hope, but it also funds their weapons, strengthens their networks, and finances future atrocities.
This heartbreaking case is another painful reminder that ransom payments do not guarantee safety. In many cases, they only make the criminals richer and more dangerous.
My heart goes out to his family, friends, and community. May Almighty grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and bring an end to this endless cycle of violence. ๐คฒ๐
