Old Somali music hits differently. The songs carried poetry, emotion, and stories that still feel meaningful today. Even after all these years, the melodies can bring back a sense of home and nostalgia.

This isn't right. And it must stop. H.E @WILLIAMSRUTO promised Kenyans when he was campaigning to become president that abductions by security organs specially by CID and NIS will stop under his watch. In the past month alone this is the second person to be abducted by the government of Kenya. The other victim was dumped in Somalia. When it comes to abductions and extrajudicial killings the buck stops with the president and security chain of command. In Kenya, abductions and extrajudicial killings are not random actions of rogue officers. Rather, these are acts of state meticulously planned, debated as policy at great length and authorised in writing by organs of state.
The struggling journey of Northern Kenya, from decades of historical marginalization, isolation and underdevelopment, remains a defining chapter in Kenya’s history.
Today, a decisive transformation is underway. Strategic government interventions are steadily reversing these disparities, most notably in the education sector, where the establishment of teacher training colleges signals a shift from chronic shortages to the overflow of surplus qualified teachers.
At the same time, the tarmacking of the 750 km Isiolo–Kula Mawe–Modogashe–Samatar–Habaswein–Wajir–Tarbaj–Kotulo–Kobo–Elwak–Gari–Rhamu to Mandera corridor stands out as a flagship project of national integration, unlocking economic potential, enhancing connectivity and firmly anchoring the region within Kenya’s development framework.
Again, the decision to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County stands as another historic and profound national statement. It powerfully affirms the place of Northern Kenya at the heart of the Republic, as the entire country is expected to gather in the region for the celebrations, transforming what was once a distant aspiration into a proud and defining reality for the people.
This milestone equally places a responsibility on leaders from the region to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability, ensuring that the growing opportunities translate into meaningful and lasting progress for the region and the people.
BREAKING: Mzee Dubat Ali Amey, a prominent elder, community leader, and vocal advocate from Garissa, passed away on Saturday following a long illness.
Born and based in Garissa, Mzee Dubat Amey was a respected figure in Northern Kenya. He served as Chairman of the Kenya Livestock Marketing Council and the National Farmers Federation, where he tirelessly championed the interests of livestock keepers, farmers, and pastoralist communities.
He was known for his strong leadership in addressing regional issues, including advocating for better livestock marketing, farmer support, and equitable development.
Mzee Dubat played an active role in Kenya’s constitutional review process as a delegate and contributed to public discourse on human rights, justice, and reconciliation.
He was described as "a no-nonsense leader, a defender of marginalized communities, and a key voice in Garissa and the broader North Eastern region — often speaking on matters affecting peace, security, and development."
His wisdom, principled stand, and dedication to his people earned him admiration across political and community lines. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many communities he served.
Funeral and burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
Khadija رضي الله عنها passed away on 10th Ramadhan, three years before the Hijrah.
She was the beloved first wife of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, the first believer in Islam, who supported him with her wealth and unwavering loyalty. They were married for about 25 years, and during that entire time he ﷺ never married another woman.
Her grave is in Jannat al-Mu'alla cemetery in Makkah, alongside their infant eldest son Qasim. A domed structure used to house her resting place but this was levelled in the 1920s.
Benjamin Netanyahu and his entire genocidal regime face serious charges at both the @IntlCrimCourt and @CIJ_ICJ for crimes against humanity, mass murder, mass rape of civilians, ethnic cleansing and other atrocities against Palestinians.
No country—including Kenya—should give apartheid Zionist Israel diplomatic cover under the guise of “the fight against terrorism” and other fictitious concoctions.
