We are excited to announce an investment from @kstcapital and to partner with their experienced team as we launch new products and scale our business.
K Street’s thesis on investing in innovative tech companies in high-growth regulated markets, including Climate and Fintech, is a perfect match for Basis.
We are thrilled to announce a 45X tax credit sale of $50M in support of Heliene's domestic solar module manufacturing capacity.
This deal is one of the first transfers of Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credits (45X) within the solar manufacturing industry, and provides another powerful example of the Inflation Reduction Act catalyzing investment in the U.S. clean energy economy.
"This transaction provides long term sustainability, hence enabling us to expand our commitment to offering developers reliable, quality modules that feature the highest possible volume of domestic content," noted Martin Pochtaruk, CEO of Heliene, Inc. "We’re grateful to the team at Basis Climate for facilitating this important deal. Together we’re building a stronger, bankable U.S. solar supply chain."

We now have full year 2023 data for clean investment in the U.S.
We also now have the first-ever estimate of actual *federal* investment in clean technologies via tax credits, loans and grants.
TL;DR every $1 of federal investment is leveraging $5-6 of private investment.
Basis Climate is pleased to announce the successful transfer of a $4M investment tax credit (ITC) for California-based Wellhead Electric Company, a developer of utility scale power generation and battery energy storage facilities, for their 16MWh Fresno Battery Energy Storage Project. This is the 2nd tax credit placement that Basis facilitated for Wellhead in the last six months.

Here's the new BNEF solar forecast.
2023 🤯, 2024🤯🤯
For context: I added the black line, which is the record coal power plant capacity that the world installed in one year (107GW in 2015).. ☀️
@advaitarun_@PubEnterprise Great write up! To avoid any payment delays (especially on a tax credit transfer) we encourage project owners to register as soon as project is placed in service. Many buyers are requiring the registration # to fund.
@theilmatic@MattZeitlin@NiyerClimate@JohnSmillie42 If y’all want to pool your passive income (minimum $50 check size), we are zeroing in on pretty sweet 30kW solar array on a gym in SC looking to sell their ITCs. We can then all meet up Outback for a hell of a meal. DM for deets
NEW from me: Travis Kelce’s financed his debut film as a producer using Biden’s green energy tax credits. This could spark a trend as a way of reducing risk in the very risky indie film sector. https://t.co/kHKOKN082M via @variety
There are so many people working at @energy that could leave and easily 2x to 4x their salaries in private sector
But they’re too busy ensuring US taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and effectively, shepherding in our clean energy future
That’s beautiful and patriotic 😤🇺🇸
@JesseJenkins The sale can occur behind the substation, but it must be to an unrelated entity, so selling the electricity to yourself or to another related LLC would not satisfy the requirement.
And some gray area if the battery is DC-coupled to the wind/solar asset.
@JesseJenkins But if the offtaker only purchases electricity after it’s been on the battery, you might not have the same amount of electricity coming out of the battery as you put into the battery based on technology/efficiency constraints.
@JesseJenkins On #2...You only get PTCs for KWh actually sold to a third party. So it depends on the structure of your offtake arrangement. For example, if the offtaker purchased the power and then decides whether to take it to the grid or put it in the battery.
