Kay Lee Ray confirms that her WWE contract expired.

“For me, it happens. There seems to be a pattern with this. My contract was up, and I knew it was coming up, and I had the decision of whether I wanted to stay or not. I know some other people got fired, and they have the 90 days clause, but because of that, cause mine was just a contract ending. It means I didn’t have the 90 days and I was able to come and do this and do it as like kind of surprise, but it wasn’t really a surprise. But yeah, really glad it worked out this way.”

Kay Lee Ray says the name "Alba Fyre" was a WWE suggestion, and that she had originally pitched the name "Paisley":

"It was WWE's idea. I had pitched some names, but ultimately it was one that they suggested that we went with.

"Alba Fyre, it's Scottish fire, that is what I am. They know what they're doing, they're WWE. I always feel, differently from the independents, in WWE, I'm an actor on their TV show.

"If they present a character to me, I'm going to play that character, but on the independents, I'm going to play the character that I want to play.

"People from there might make fun of me for this, but Paisley was actually one that I suggested.

"I was born in Paisley, so like Paisley Ray/Rae, something like that so it kind of went with the Kay Lee. But they were like 'No, you're a badass, we need something fiery.'"
