I would strongly advise every American leader and policymaker to listen carefully to @davidrliu - the most important scientist and innovator of our lifetime and the person who invented both Base editing & Prime editing - the 2 top leading modalities of Gene editing, when he describes in @60Minutes the grave danger which the American BioTech ecosystem is facing due to insufficient federal funding. America is already losing its technological and innovative edge! $BEAM $PRME
We Have Won! No one can use ‘ORS’ on their label unless it’s a WHO-recommended formula.
This is the story of Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh, a braveheart paediatrician from Hyderabad, who fought for 8 years against sugar-rich drinks falsely marketed as ORS.
Her persistence led to FSSAI’s landmark order, protecting children and patients from misleading claims.
“These drinks had 10x the sugar WHO recommends, worsening diarrhoea and complications in millions of kids,” she explains.
This victory is not just hers, but belongs to everyone who stood with her — doctors, advocates, parents, and citizens demanding truth in labeling.
Scroll down to see how her 8-year battle changed the game for public health and children across India.

@sciqst Thanks, Raffaele! Yes, this thermostability, protease stability and real-time tracking properties are definitely going to help in therapy development and in assay development in unfavourable conditions.
We are excited to share our latest article on the engineered, thermostable GlowCas9 (CRISPR) system in Angewandte Chemie. A big congratulations to all the authors, especially Arka, for leading the work.

The coolest thing is that we knocked-in ACHARYA (J C Bose) at the EMX1 locus, in HEK293ZT cells. https://t.co/QWdXw976JI
Thanks #DBT#DST#CSIR for funding.
In this work, we took the glow from a fish and made the CRISPR enzyme stable, glow-bright for genome engineering and therapeutic tracking applications. We are more happy to show that our system can outperform WTCas9 for gene knock-in repair with any sequence at any genomic locus.
The CRISPR family’s most versatile member has made its medical debut: a cutting-edge gene-editing technique known as prime editing has been used to treat a person for the first time

Last night I was honored to receive the 2025 #BreakthroughPrize in the Life Sciences, reflecting the efforts of many students, collaborators, doctors, and patients in labs around the world. I hope this 4-minute excerpt can inspire when science needs public support more than ever.
Grateful to have our work featured in RSC’s 2025 International Women’s Day Collection. Grateful for the guidance of my supervisor Dr @Basudebmaji and the unwavering support of my family and friends.

We are excited to report the discovery of TIGRs, a widely-occurring RNA-guided system found in bacteria and their viruses. TIGRs consist of a peculiar repeat region which is transcribed into RNA and processed into multiple guide RNAs to direct TIGR-associated proteins to their DNA targets. https://t.co/ketXqFVQqw
p53 is tightly regulated with instability and a short lifetime. Paradoxically, cells need p53 JUST NOW in the nucleus when DNA damage arises @DebalinaDatta1@ambuja_n other members showed cells use p53 condensates for temporal storage and functions https://t.co/XdDRcIUAVY
My lab at Emory University in vibrant Atlanta is looking for a postdoc candidate in #mitochondrialbiology and #metabolism. This position offers training opportunities in #metabolomics using our in-house Agilent 6546 QTOF LCMS. Please spread the word! (1/3)
Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, Director, Indian Statistical Institute graced the occasion by her intriguing D.M. Bose Memorial Lecture titled :" Artificial Intelligence and Life Sciences: A Synergistic Relationship".@IndiaDST@DrJitendraSingh@karandi65@PIB_India
Grateful to receive the Best Poster Presentation Award at the BIAS 2024
Thankful to my mentor, Dr. Basudeb Maji, for his guidance
Honored to present my work on NA-TACs and receive the award from Prof. Kaustav Sanyal, Prof. Sankar Kumar Pal, and Prof. Anuradha Lohia
