CBD Shields Liver from Chemo Drug Damage!

Methotrexate, a chemo drug, often damages the liver and limits its use.

CBD from hemp can reduce oxidative damage, inflammation, and cell death.

In rats, one dose of methotrexate raised liver injury markers, oxidative stress, inflammation, and cell-death signals, and lowered protective defenses.

Daily CBD for seven days largely reversed those changes.

CBD appeared to protect the liver by boosting antioxidant defenses, lowering inflammation, and shifting cells away from death.

Cannabinoids cut insomnia severity!

Usual sleep drugs can lose effect and become habit-forming, so researchers reviewed trials of cannabis-related compounds as an alternative.

Ten randomized trials (2,134 people) compared cannabinoids with placebo or melatonin.

Insomnia severity and sleep-quality scores both improved clearly.

People slept about 34 minutes longer, were asleep a bit more of the time in bed, and fell asleep about 12 minutes faster.

The authors conclude cannabinoids can improve sleep length and quality with acceptable safety.

Gut Health Game Changer: CBD Boosts Cell Power & Protection!

CBD oil activates an energy sensor in cells (AMPK), helping cells to work better. It boosts the creation of certain cell markers that show cells are maturing properly. It improves how cells make energy in their little power plants (mitochondria) by affecting PGC1α and SIRT3.

Cannabis in Antibacterial Warfare!

Antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA and VRSA) and Streptococcus pyogenes are rising, with few new drugs available.

A review of 24 lab studies found cannabis compounds can stop these bacteria.

CBD was strongest: about 0.5–4 mg/L against MRSA and 1–2 mg/L against VRSA; other compounds (CBG, THC, cannabichromene) also worked.

CBD, CBG, and THC slowed S. pyogenes at roughly 0.6–50 mg/L, and some combinations with other agents worked better together.

Lab and animal studies suggest cannabinoids can push cancer cells to die and can slow their growth and spread.

Cannabis Compounds Team Up with Chemo to Fight Ovarian Cancer!

Cannabis compounds can slow ovarian cancer cells in lab tests.

On a human ovarian cancer cell line, CBD was the most active natural compound tested. Modified CBD versions killed the cells more effectively.

Two modified versions were about four to five times stronger than regular CBD. They appear to work partly by triggering two types of cell death.

Combined with the chemo drug cisplatin, they worked better together than either alone, linked to higher levels of cell-damaging molecules.
