@sksanglia@Wera_Hobhouse The woman standing to the right of Wera Hobhouse is a local Jewish woman. Like hundreds of thousands of Jews across the world she says that what's happening in Gaza is a genocide, and is not in her name.
#rideforpalestine in Bath Cyclists rode the streets calling for the Uk to support a two state solution ceasefire in Gaza &a call to protect the innocent from being needlessly killed To date it estimated that 13,800 Palestinian children have been killed since 7th Oct. #ceasefire
Today in Bath I joined a peaceful march for the thousands of lives lost in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
We need an immediate bilateral ceasefire now to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, get the hostages out, and open the door to a two-state solution and a lasting peace
🔑 Nakba March & Rally 🔑
🗓️ Saturday, May 11, 2024
🕛 12 noon
📍 Kingston Parade, #Bath BA1 1 LT (South Side of Abby)
This Saturday, let's stand in solidarity with Palestinians. Bring keys 🔑 to symbolise their longing for home, as many polish theirs on Nakba day, a day of deep significance.
#Nakba means 'catastrophe' in Arabic. It commemorates the forced expulsion of over 750,000 Palestinians in 1948, leading to the establishment of Israel. Let's honor 76 years of resilience and demand an end to occupation and oppression.
All welcome. Bring flags 🇵🇸🪧🔑 and keffiyehs.

In our thousands and millions, those of us longing for Palestine’s liberation aren’t mere outsiders or bystanders. We’re actively engaged in a collective fight for freedom.
@BathFoP is hosting Hazem Jamjoum, a vibrant Palestinian voice, writer, translator, and archivist. Join them for a compelling discussion on what it means to contribute to Palestine’s liberation and the intertwined nature of local and global activism.
For tickets and further information, please see the tweet below.
Watch @schneiderhome on @TalkTV make the case for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, David Mencer, from Labour Friends of Israel, goes BESERK saying he supports Hamas.
Who do you think makes more sense here? And then ask who is more central in making Labour policy right now. Frightening.

Charlotte Church uplifted spirits and hearts 💕 in #Bath today by sharing an inspiring excerpt from a letter Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes wrote to a young activist, that encapsulates the essence of relentless perseverance and determination required for dramatic change.
‘What is needed for dramatic change is an accumulation of acts, adding, adding to, adding more, continuing. We know that it does not take everyone on Earth to bring justice and peace, but only a small, determined group who will not give up during the first, second, or hundredth gale.’
Charlotte then taught us a little song 🎶 before we set off on the #SilenceIsViolence march for Palestine. 🕊️ 🇵🇸

@john_wimperis Bad enough that after 6 months of plausible genocide in Gaza, BANES council produced a toothless statement rather than have the guts to debate a ceasefire motion. And then to try to fob off this Palestinian man (who has had family trapped in Gaza) with a blatant lie!
Despicable.

A shockingly misleading 'factual' question from Leader of Council Cllr Kevin Guy to Palestinian resident, Mohammed Alrozzi. Intentional damage limitation and covering his own back. Disgusting.
CarraKev slapdash with his words. He claims that a statement was made on behalf of all the leaders calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
It wasn't. It didn't.
I am surprised no other councillor noticed this and asked him to correct his statement.
@landatthebottom As a representative from Bath Campaigns Network I called out leader of the council, Kevin Guy, vocally from the sideline (as a speaker waiting outside in the corridor). Was furious!
The last public speaker is a Palestinian resident. He says BNES hasn’t demanded a ceasefire. [the BNES statement ref’d above which was issued today says, ‘we hope for an immediate ceasefire’ but he may not have seen this earlier].
