It’s not inherently that the stakes are too high, it’s that there isn’t a convincing progression of stakes to make the web of shadows rip off convincing or meaningfully grounded. Hell Peter’s arc is done before the final fight even begins

I do like 2 and when it gets to the final boss fight, it works for me, but most of the problem with the 3rd act is the worldending scale's way too much and overblown.

1 works beautifully in keeping the personal stakes small and it hits emotionally hard the whole time.
