Two players walk into every season.
Player 1 has out-of-this-world, God-given ability… but a weak mindset. When things go wrong, confidence disappears. Pressure feels heavy. The game becomes stressful.
Player 2 has pretty good natural talent, nowhere near Player 1, but has an elite mindset. They control the controllables, welcome adversity, and see pressure as fuel. Their confidence is built from their daily disciplines.
I always ask athletes: Which player ends up with more confidence? More fun? A more rewarding and successful career on and off the field? The answer is obvious.
Talent might open the door. Mindset is what keeps it open. And the best part? Mindset is trainable. Bring it on.
INTENTION changes everything!
Two athletes. Same starting point. Same exact program. But one keeps improving… and the other stays stuck.
Why?
Athlete A is just going through the motions. Showing up because they have to. Checking the box.
Athlete B shows UP. Every rep has purpose. Every drill has focus. Every session has effort behind it.
That’s the difference between average and elite.
If you want to become an elite athlete, don’t just be present; be intentional. Work hard. Compete. Show up with purpose.
This post put together by performwithpete needs to be seen by as many athletes and coaches as possible! Amazing visual and an important lesson on how to maximize every training session. Over a thousand training sessions INTENT becomes the difference between success and knowing you could have been more!
Dreams do come true but here’s the real truth most people don’t talk about:
What are you willing to give up to make your dreams come true?
I grew up in the projects where dreams didn’t feel real. Life was about surviving, not dreaming. Then one day everything changed when a teacher and a coach both told me, “You can become whatever you want if you’re willing to be different.”
That moment shifted my mindset forever.
So to every young person coming up this is the same thing I told the guys I grew up with:
I wasn’t better than you.
I just made better decisions and real sacrifices for the betterment of my family and my future.
Success isn’t luck. It’s discipline, faith, and doing the hard things when nobody is watching.
I pray my life and testimony inspire kids coming from hard situations to believe bigger, work harder, and turn what looks like nothing into something great.
Because where you start doesn’t determine where you finish God does.
