UM @larsloekke: ”Står sammen med 🇨🇦🇦🇺🇪🇪🇪🇺🇫🇮🇫🇷🇮🇸🇱🇻🇱🇹🇳🇴🇸🇪 i vores dybe bekymring over eskaleringen af kamphandlinger i Libanon og hilser indsatser for at implementere våbenhvilen velkommen. Hizbollah skal afvæbnes & Israel skal respektere Libanons territorielle integritet.”
Yesterday we celebrated both the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations to Canada and our Constitution Day together with Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable @AnitaAnandMP
PM Frederiksen: ”I am heartbroken by the tragic news of the fatal shootings in Tumbler Ridge, Canada. On behalf of Denmark and the Danish people, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims and the Canadian people.” 🇨🇦
Defending the Arctic is a priority for our government. Today, I visited the Joint Arctic Command and the CCGS Jean Goodwill, a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker, that has recently arrived in Nuuk, highlighting the importance of strong capabilities and close coordination to keep the region secure.
At a time of global volatility, Canada is acting with purpose. In Denmark, I discussed our new foreign policy and Arctic strategy, following the Prime Minister’s Davos address — focused on security, sovereignty, and partnership in the North.
Canada’s new consulate in Nuuk is now officially open — a major commitment under our Arctic Foreign Policy. As strategic competition increases in the Arctic, Canada is standing with our Arctic partners to advance stability, security, and shared interests in the North.
I was pleased to deliver a keynote address at the Nordic-Canadian Arctic Symposium in which I set out Canada’s Arctic foreign policy. In short, Arctic sovereignty is an unquestionable priority for the Government of Canada.
FM @larsloekke: "Good conversation w/ Canada's FM @AnitaAnandMP, who also spoke w/ my Greenlandic colleague, Vivian Motzfeldt. Canada stands shoulder to shoulder w/Denmark & Greenland in the Arctic - for security, cooperation, and respect for territorial integrity of the Kingdom"
I spoke today with my Danish and Greenlandic counterparts, Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Vivian Motzfeldt, to reiterate Canada’s steadfast support for the Kingdom of Denmark and Greenland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. As Arctic nations, we share a deep commitment to regional security and protection. I will be in Nuuk, Greenland in the coming weeks for the official opening of Canada’s consulate to convey this message and to strengthen our longstanding partnership in the Arctic.
Canada and Denmark are Allies and partners in our shared responsibility for the security and resilience of the Arctic.
As I reaffirmed to PM Frederiksen today, Canada will always support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark, including Greenland. Together, we’ll keep working to secure peace in Ukraine and across Europe.
PM Frederiksen: ”Good meeting with PM Carney today. Reaffirmed close bond between our two countries. Discussed security in the Arctic. Expressed my appreciation for Canada’s strong support to the Kingdom of Denmark in the current situation.”
Today, I have been in contact with Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, to convey Canada’s support for the fundamental importance of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. I reaffirmed our friendship and partnership as members of the Arctic Council and NATO, and through the Canadian-EU strategic partnership launched under Denmark’s EU Presidency. Arctic security is a core priority for Canada, and we remain committed to working closely with our allies and partners. I look forward to travelling to Nuuk for the official opening of Canada’s consulate early in 2026.
Great to meet with ambassadors from the EU and member nations today.
By working together on trade and defence, we’ll unlock massive new opportunities for our workers and businesses.
