Arrested and tortured at the gendarmerie, this Cameroonian continues to insist before the security forces that Issa Tchiroma Bakary is the elected president.
Excellent overview in @Newsweek on how Prez Trump's transactional policy could be great for overall US-Africa engagement. Among those quoted are @DrJPPham and Dr. Sako, one of the Ambazonia diaspora leaders. Well worth a read.

BREAKING: Tchiroma Says Ministers Have Called to Congratulate Him
Presidential candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary says Ministers and members of government have called to express their support after he claimed victory in the just-ended presidential election.
Full Statement:
“My dear compatriots,
“I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, the ministers and members of government who have personally called me in recent days to express their support. The time is no longer for pretenses or calculations: when the stakes for our country and for national peace are this crucial, everyone must choose their side—and many have already done so.
“I also thank certain members of the High Command and our Armed Forces who, with responsibility and clarity, have made me aware of their determination not to betray their primary mission: protecting the people. I hope that others will follow in the coming days, because history will remember those who chose the people rather than privileges.
“To our brothers and sisters in the press, I also make this appeal: do not allow yourselves to be turned into instruments of disinformation for the sake of favors or positions. You carry a great responsibility toward the youth of this country, who look up to you as models. Do not become enemies of the people.
“The times are grave, but hope is stronger. Together, let us remain standing, united, and vigilant. The future is in our hands.
Issa Tchiroma Bakary.”

Breaking News:
Project C, led by veteran journalist Eric Chinje, has confirmed Issa Tchiroma Bakary as projected winner of Cameroon’s October 12 presidential election. They also issued a strong call for calm and respect for the people’s will.
In a statement released on Monday, the organisation said that “all evidence from polling stations in Cameroon and around the world suggests the country is on the threshold of a new era — a Third Republic,” projecting Mr. Issa Tchiroma Bakary as the likely winner.
Project C congratulated citizens for “securing their votes and preventing post-electoral fraud,” and urged outgoing President Paul Biya and his administration to “prepare a peaceful transition of power.”
The movement also appealed to all candidates to acknowledge the people’s choice and congratulate the projected winner, while calling on ELECAM, the Constitutional Council, and the security forces to safeguard peace and ensure the integrity of the transition process.
“This is a new page in our national history, turned by the collective will of the people,” the statement read.
Project C, which describes itself as a civic platform for democratic renewal, reaffirmed its commitment to a free, peaceful, and united Cameroon.

The Cameroon regime can pretend all is well in celebrating its “national” day but a closer look shows the truth - the lack of justice for Ambazonians (Southern Cameroonians) is splitting the nation more each day. Symbolic ceremonies of unity are empty. https://t.co/wypqERlSMd
Dear Friends, Adversaries, and Trolls - Looks like Im going back to US State Dept on Monday in a position which will be beyond just Africa. So Im stopping expressing my personal views until my temporary position finishes (probably a few months). God bless you all and back soon!
🫡 Hey Thetanians!
Let's start the week with some great news! If this post gets 1K retweets, we will open a new sale and reveal a big secret! 😎
🤔 Wanna know what the secret is? Retweet and wait for the reveal! 👇
Cameroon won independence from France January 1, 1960 but celebrates May 20 when it forced former British Cameroon (Ambazonia) into a unitary state. Many Ambazonians wish May 20 never happened with one leader trolling Cam Prez Biya with a national day msg! https://t.co/w7yZzTb8rd
In another open letter to Jacques Fame Ndongo, a CPDM municipal councilor Léon Theiller Onana has expressed concern over the party’s stagnation and lack of reform. Onana criticized calls for President Paul Biya, 91, to seek re-election after 43 years in power, warning that such inertia risks turning the CPDM into a "relic of the past." https://t.co/y20dnHy0Sj

So certain African countries are making a mint from using their excess electric capacity for crypto mining - great! Why should Africa miss out on one more innovation? Key of course is how gains will be spent - on people or politicians? https://t.co/tV3t025zJ8
Human Rights Watch has asked Cameronian authorities to reverse a recent decision outlawing media reports on the health of President Paul Biya. Following social media rumours about Biya's health and potential demise, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, imposed the ban, which is not only anti-press freedom, but also unconstitutional. https://t.co/DT2Ssolrse

If a new Govt emerges in Cameroon, it would present a golden opportunity for justice for Southern Cameroonians. To take advantage, Ambazonian factions should present a united front to a new Yaoundé Govt in testing its willingness to engage seriously on Southern Cameroon's future.
The Cameroon Govt could end all speculation about Prez Biya’s health with a (non doctored) photo or video. Otherwise rumors will intensify. The people have a right to know - it’s their country.
So Cameroon Govt has made it illegal to even discuss Prez Biya's health. That smacks of desperation and shows lack of confidence. This will just make people more concerned + talk even more about Prez Biya's health. Such steps make regimes less stable.
