Earlier this year, @NCRMuseum announced the kickoff of the Bayard Rustin Institute, a center for education and justice inspired by the life and legacy of Bayard Rustin.

At a program hosted by the National Center for Civil and Human Rights (@Ctr4CHR), the city of Atlanta officially declared March 17 “Bayard Rustin Day” to honor the influential activist who helped build the modern Civil Rights Movement.

This day coincides with Rustin’s birthday. As part of the proclamation, the Atlanta City Council emphasized Rustin’s accomplishments as a “visionary strategist of the American civil rights movement” whose commitment to nonviolent direct action transformed the US for the better.
