The time has come to leave.
The new Terms of Service are unacceptable.
I refuse to give away rights to use my text to train AI for free.
If any of my posts are ever used to train AI, then that will be an implicit agreement to this contract to pay me 50% of all revenue generated.
@sonyatrademark There are non-profits, or renewable energy companies, or a few other industries; but I do get what you're saying.
Personally, I just decided to refuse to contribute to that philosophy, and my mental health improved as a result. My finances, not so much, but I'm fine with that.
@sonyatrademark Selling people stuff they don't need.
Making it easier for companies to use sketchy auto-renewal practices.
Helping advertisers harvest people's personal data.
Just generally nudging the population further along its trajectory towards endless indebtedness and misery.
just think
@_kruptos Well, we're in a weird situation where Conservatives have thrown out all morals and ethics to elect a specific guy, for some inexplicable reason. Like, there are plenty of other Conservative politicians that fit your policies better, but for some reason you went with a criminal.
@InternetH0F > Go to a restaurant
> Order steak
> "How would you like your steak?"
> "Toasted"
> ???
> Profit
so tempted to do this in the future
@sabrinacartan If he ever does get any kind of government office and repeats this nonsense, he should immediately get dismissed for misfeasance for picking an arbitrary number of agencies based on how the number sounds.
@dillon_mulroy quick, which of these correctly outputs 5:
constant(constant)(console)(console)("log")["log"](5);
constant(constant(console)(console)["log"])("log")(5);
if you answered "both" then you are the functional programmer
@NateSilver538 They have good heuristics generally, but I'm not sure those heuristics still work when fairly reasonable assumptions get violated.
Like, say, the assumption that political parties won't run candidates that blatantly reject party policy, brazenly lie, and commit multiple crimes.
@InlandCaGuy Seems to mostly fit prior literacy numbers, actually.
Generally, literacy is measured in stages:
0. illiterate
1. road signs (can get a driver's license)
2. basic forms and emails
3. simple books
4+. most books
The gap from 1 to 2 is large, and the gap from 2 to 3 is massive.
@mynamebedan The cause of this is simple, and explicitly mentioned:
The new terms of service are to blame.
I'm leaving myself, since I refuse to give away the rights to use my writing to train an AI for some unnamed purpose. I highly recommend anyone else with any dignity should also leave.
