Things need to change in the culture of the church, both at large and in individual families. “Boundaries” needing to be established to “ensure safe spaces” goes both ways. I am enforcing the following new rules in my family and person relationships:

1. You celebrate Charlie Kirk’s death and you are blocked. If you’re disgusting enough a person to celebrate political violence, we’re done… for a long time… until your behavior changes.

This includes the people who “qualify it” with “I don’t think he should’ve been shot BUT…”. No one lunched in the 30’s deserved it, RFK, JFK, Medger Evers, MLK, Irina, none of them deserved it and if you value your “liberalism” or party affiliation so much you can say it straight without qualification… we shouldn’t talk, for a very long time… until your behavior changes.

2. No more casual use of the word “fascism” and “Nazi”. No more casual use of the word “treason”. Nazi and fascist is code for “deserves death” and “treason” is a capital offense. You do not throw these words around casually anymore as liberals just like we ostracized conservatives who used the N-word, or “gay” or whatever… the casual use of Nazi and “fascist” (which is just a dog whistle for Nazi) is part of the problem of what led to this. If you cannot regulate your speech to be human as conservatives have for 50 years we shouldn’t talk.

3. No more co-dependency. It’s not short term peace-making but enabling long term violence. Mormon families are so conditioned to think pleasantries are peace, and so committed to the idea that “there’s no success outside of the home that compensates for failure within” that they would rather allow disgusting rhetoric and behavior to go ignored and unchecked in order to “keep the peace” and presumably “not fail at family” for fear of disrupting the pleasant atmosphere or “causing a stir”, not realize that just lets the disease spread and emboldens the bad actor to radicalize others.

If you can’t handle that… we shouldn’t talk… for a long time.

@walleteer_eth @IsleyResistance @thecavedaddy I understand the angle but the point remains that the TAX is 5%, not the sum you pay. Yes, the dollar amount may change according to income earned but the tax remains unchanged. The total ‘sum’ being paid is 5% of income earned.

@IsleyResistance @thecavedaddy You’re not paying more, you’re paying “five percent” just like everyone else. A flat tax is more fair proportional to income. It also doesn’t hurt incentive to make more money because you’re still paying 5% either way.
