Newtown AFC are excited to unveil that Philippines international goalkeeper, Julian Schwarzer Garcia, as their latest signing of the transfer window.
The former Fulham player joins the Robins as a free agent, having left Indonesian Liga 1 side Arema FC in the summer.
Schwarzer Garcia is a product of Fulham’s academy and had loan spells in the English non-league system before playing in the Malaysian Super League and Liga 1.
The 25-year-old, who initially joins Newtown until the end of the season, is an extremely quick and agile goalkeeper who is comfortable on the ball.
Schwarzer Garcia is the son of former Australian international goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer, who played for the likes of Chelsea and Middlesbrough during his illustrious career.
Robins Head Coach, Callum McKenzie, said of the signing: Julian is an exciting signing and fills a place in the squad that we’ve clearly needed to strengthen. Julian’s had a really interesting career and his experience and in particular his distribution will add another dimension to our game in phase 2.
Julian commented - I’m delighted to have signed for Newtown. I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead and I’ll do whatever I can to help the club achieve its goals for the remainder of the season.

Great to chat with @FootyMuseumWal at last nights game about the new museum and our own peice of Welsh Football History- really exciting projects happening all over Welsh Football
Newtown welcome @AberystwythTown as the two ever present sides open the 35th @CymruLeagues
With a combined 2,151 games, this will be the 79th league meeting
It’s a Friday night under the Summer Sun ☀️ at @MontgomWaters Latham Park so join us as we kick off our 150th season
@GaryDewhurst@FAWales The fixture list clubs have seen will make phase one be the lowest attendance ever - surely we sort out marketing / behind the scenes first before the dross we have got today - @NoelMooney13 said @FAWales listened to clubs ????
@1RichiePhillips@GaryDewhurst@FAWales Ur missing Gary’s point - it’s not just about the pre game it’s players from both academics to create an atmosphere and helping to create better links within a club - it’s not going to be a big crowd wherever it’s played however the location and time makes it even more difficult
@westwalesed@CaruPelDroedCym@DylanEbz@HaverfordwestFC Completely agree - both clubs worked hard to promote the event and get such a great crowd - need to get the FAW and the two clubs around the table now in how they plan to promote it and get people there but location and kick off time isn’t ideal
