YES. When I train new educators I always remind them that we are working in a system w a massive power imbalance that oppresses students’ rights. It’s so easy to take advantage of that imbalance ☹️ We have to question whether what we do is to support youth or to control them.

children are an oppressed group of people. ALL children. they will never have the same resources, power, or cognitive ability as most adults and their lives are completely at the will of the people raising them. i hate how we treat kids.
