I’ll keep saying it, a lot of you need to decenter that Instagram lavish way of life, so you can start thinking like normal humans.
You are a Nigerian , living in Nigeria, no special
talent or skill , fuel is 1300+, rent is skyrocketing everywhere, minimum wage is less than 100k. Trust me you are closer to being homeless than driving that 2025 gle.
Unpopular opinion:
Some people have seen “Elon Musk is now worth around $1.1 trillion” and have started doing calculator ministry.
“If he spends $1 million every day, it will take him almost 3,000 years to finish the money...”
Please calm down.
That $1.1 trillion is not liquid cash sitting inside his bank account.
It is not dollars packed inside one warehouse beside Tesla cars.
Most of it is shares.
Tesla shares.
SpaceX shares.
Company ownership.
That is what they call net worth.
It means the market is currently valuing what he owns at that amount. It does not mean he can walk into a bank tomorrow and withdraw $1.1 trillion - this is basic Economics!
Even Dangote’s billions are mostly tied to his businesses—cement, refinery, sugar, salt, factories, and shares!
That is how big wealth works.
If Elon tries to sell a large portion of his shares at once, the market will panic, the price will fall, and that “$1.1 trillion” will reduced drastically within seconds.
That is why many ultra-rich people borrow against their shares rather than sell a large portion of them.
So before you calculate how many lifetimes it will take to spend one trillion dollars, understand the type of money being discussed.
Net worth is not an account balance. I'm a little disappointed that the self-acclaimed traders who are supposed to understand how global economics work are still posting about how long it will take to make/spend ~ $ 1 trillion.
Valuation is not cash.
And lastly, it irritates me when I see people who are graduates, who are supposed to be at least intelligent, posting things like they are illiterates holding expensive phones.
More annoying is when people are so confident in their ignorance!
Anyways, this is just a simple FYI.
Why doesn't Elon Musk use his 1 trillion + to solve the world's poverty problem?
Elon Musk’s billions are tied up in company stocks, not liquid cash. Selling it all at once would crash the stock value, making that wealth disappear. Throwing money at countries with broken governance is like pouring water into a leaky bucket. As seen with mismanaged aid and hoarded palliatives, corrupt officials will simply pocket the funds.
A private citizen cannot legally bypass a foreign government to distribute aid without their permission; the local authorities can simply seize the assets or halt operations. Global problems cost trillions annually. Musk's entire net worth wouldn't fund a major government for even two months, meaning the money would run out long before the systemic issues are fixed.
Money can buy supplies, but it cannot buy honest leadership or functional systems. Without good governance, massive funding just rewards corruption.
@ifulikedie@zackfgs@Motee_1 Irrelevant in the international market.
The Pound & Euro are also more "valuable" than the Dollar individually, but dont have the monopoly that the U.S has in the foreign markets, making the Dollar more valuable. It's literally the most powerful currency in the world 😂
