AI artists are tourists, and even worse, they're the type of tourists who lack respect for the place they're visiting and end up trashing everything while deliberately antagonizing the locals. If fear mongering is your primary conversion tactic, you've already lost.

@IzzzyzzzArt There was also a period where people would use templates of character poses, and draw over it. They were called bases, and the styles can range from anime, to sonic, to comics. I think it's still around, but it's not as prevalent as the mid 2000's

@IzzzyzzzArt Speaking from personal experience, 2004-2009 was the peak of Deviantart, and there were lots of pixel artists creating blob/glob animations for people to use as emoticons. To name a few examples on dA: meninasuitcase, CookiemagiK and Web5teR
