i’m so serious when i say that newjeans feel like a fever dream each passing day… i cannot explain how but they were truly perfect in a way you can understand only if you experienced it
February 26, 2025 – Min Hee-jin Press Conference
Hello. This is Min Hee-jin.
First, I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to the court for patiently examining the essence of this long matter over an extended period, and for clearly confirming my innocence and sincerity through a definitive ruling.
From winning the injunction in 2024, to the police's decision not to refer the case for prosecution in 2025, and now this first-instance ruling in 2026 — it has truly been a long tunnel. The court has revealed that the sensational frames of “management rights seizure” and “tampering” were illusions, and it has recognized that the concerns I raised about creative ethics were legitimate management decisions that I, as the representative of a company, was duty-bound to make.
The outcome of this lawsuit felt like a comfort that washed away two years of wounds. I feel a sense of debt toward the public for the fatigue I unintentionally caused throughout that process. I now intend to repay that debt through a new vision for K-pop.
The reason I stand here today is to announce that I have decided to exchange the 25.6 billion won I will receive as the price of this victory for something of greater value.
25.6 billion won is an enormous sum that most people could never touch in a lifetime. For me, just beginning a new start, it is also an incredibly precious fund. However, because there is a value I desire far more urgently than this large amount of money, I have decided to make a meaningful proposal to HYBE, and that is why I am holding this press conference.
The most urgent reason behind this decision, above all others, is the members of NewJeans. In exchange for setting aside 25.6 billion won, I propose the immediate cessation of all ongoing civil and criminal lawsuits and the resolution of all disputes. This proposal includes not only myself personally, but also the ending of all complaints and accusations directed at the NewJeans members, external partner companies, former ADOR employees, and even the fans caught up and hurt by this fight.
Only when all of these legal disputes are resolved will there be no more reckless noise directed at the artists, their families, and their fans.
I can no longer stand by and watch a reality where five members who should be happily performing on stage must instead have some on stage and others in a courtroom. The members who are on stage must be suffering too, and not only the fans watching — no one can look upon this situation with happiness. And with hearts torn apart like this, good culture can never be created.
As I have said many times, there are values far more important to me than money. Now that my sincerity has been confirmed, I want to show the world that there are things more precious than money. I also want to let the NewJeans members, whose hearts must be truly hurting right now, know that there are always adults standing with them, and to convey my support and encouragement.
I hope that this decision — to trade an enormous sum of 25.6 billion won for a different value — will be transformed into the overall development and unity of the K-pop industry. The place where HYBE and I should be is not the courtroom, but the stage of creation.
When I launched NewJeans, I had a creative vision. It is deeply regrettable that I could not complete it, but precisely because of that, I earnestly ask that the promise made by the current ADOR in court—“If NewJeans returns, we will do well by them”—become reality. Please create an environment where all five NewJeans members can come together and freely pursue their dreams. Opening the path for artists to shine again — that is the only role adults should play.
To me, 25.6 billion won is not greater than the value of restoring a healthy ecosystem for K-pop and peaceful daily lives for artists.
Now, I hope we can all do our best in our respective paths so that we can present even better stages to the fans. I propose that we adults return to our original selves, competing with skill not in the courtroom but in music and on stage. The longer this dispute drags on, the greater the harm to the real protagonists of this industry: the artists.
Once again, to HYBE and Chairman Bang Si-hyuk: Let us meet at the place of creation. In 2025, amendments to the Commercial Act added stricter fiduciary duties to shareholders starting in July, among other changes. In an era where corporate responsibility has become heavier, resolving risks in the entertainment industry and choosing harmony would be the wisest management decision for shareholders and fans alike.
Now, I will remove the label of “former ADOR representative” and walk a new path as the “CEO of OOAK Records.” Going forward, I will pour all my energy into nurturing new artists to represent the K-pop industry and into business with a new direction.
To the media representatives who took time out of your busy schedules to attend my press conference today, I offer my sincere thanks. I hope there will be no more exhausting press conferences like this after today. From now on, I will meet you not in press conference rooms or courtrooms, but on the stage of creation. And now, I will devote myself fully to the creativity I do best. I hope my sincerity today reaches you, and that this becomes a turning point for the entire K-pop industry to breathe healthily again.
Today, the KOSPI broke through 6,000. I hope HYBE will seriously consider my proposal for mutual prosperity in a forward-looking direction.
Thank you.
