Pope Leo quotes Gandalf in encyclical debut:
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.”
So the argument is we have no choice but to live in a corrupt world run by corrupt people because if the corrupt people were put in prison for their corruption their corrupt world would fall apart?
Have I got that right?
(Because if so, do you hear how stupid that sounds??)
Coco Gauff was asked about Aryna Sabalenka saying Iga Swiatek would’ve beaten her in the Roland Garros final:
“I don’t agree with that. I mean, I’m sitting here. 😂 No shade to Iga or anything, but I played her and I won in straight sets. I don’t think that’s a fair thing to say. Anything can really happen. Honestly, the way Aryna was playing the last few weeks, she was the favorite to win. I think she was the best person I could’ve played in the final. Her being #1 in the world, she was the best person to play. I think I got the hardest matchup just if you go off stats alone. Obviously Iga being a champion here, it was gonna be a tough match either way. But yeah, regardless of who I played, I think I had a good shot to win and I definitely had that belief. If you ask me honestly who I wanted to play, it was Iga. Just because I felt Aryna was playing so good. Obviously Iga is a tough opponent too. Honestly neither of them would’ve been the better shot 😂. But it played out how it played out and that’s why I’m here today.”

Spike Lee's support of athletes and especially Black athletes and his willingness to fly across the world to pop up like a fun uncle, speaks to how special of a person he is.

Destiny.
I never want him to talk about women’s tennis ever ever again. Also if it were me i would rather watch that Sabalenka-Swiatek SF or the Swiatek-Rybakina 4R over anything in the men’s game
