The mental health impact of harmful online content is now the no.1 concern for

That’s why we’ve joined with @mollyroseorg, NSPCC and other orgs to call for the standards used to classify films for UK cinema release to be extended to
social media platforms.

New BBFC research shows UK parents are now twice as concerned about the mental health impact of harmful online content (55%) than their child’s physical health & nutrition (27%). Online safety is now the #1 parental concern, outranking bullying (40%) and grades (36%).
The public verdict is overwhelming: 92% of parents want online safety standards shaped by UK audience consultation. 86% support a formal partnership between the BBFC and social media platforms to moderate content in line with trusted cinema guidelines.
