Outrageous but also unfortunately on the rise. Last year alone we seized 1,581 badges being misused and over 500 were lost badges, belonged to a deceased person or stolen. Enforcement of the blue badge scheme = increase in compliance. #disabilityrights

It doesn't matter who you are, what you do or what car you have, parking in a blue badge bay and using a dead relative's badge is not only a criminal offence but it's morally wrong! Well done @RBKC for protecting the blue badge scheme.

This is a good & much needed move forward. Recently the team investigated 2 cases where the properties had been unlawfully listed and booked through @Airbnb. Let's hope this ruling opens further collaboration with other local authorities too.

Today, within just a few hours the team found 2 cars where the blue badges were being misused. Misuse is a criminal offence and stops #disabled people being able to go to work or visit their local town. We will find you!

We recently spent time with the Scam Interceptors team talking about blue badge fraud. The episode airs tomorrow on @BBCOne @ 10am. There's an increase in blue badge misuse & we know from experience that enforcing the scheme increases compliance.

I’ve had enough of being refused access to businesses because I have a guide dog!
Having a security guard in a department store aggressively shout “no pets allowed” over & over again whilst I’m with my kids is inexcusable. Both my kids noticed customers stopping to stare.
So great that all of our hard work was recognised at the #britishparkingawards. We also went on to win the Parking Partnership and Parking Person of The Year awards. #Awards#teamwork

BBFI were proud to work with the specials yesterday to help protect the rights of disabled motorists. Seizing two lost, two stolen and two misused blue badges.
Today we are an Op with @MPSHoeStreet and @MPSWoodStreet also assisted by @MPSSpecials targeting ASB related issues. Currently on Hoe Street #E17 and the Bakers Arms #E10 area after reports of catcalling! Also looking out for E-scooters and mopeds with no insurance!
We are proud to announce that we have been certified to BS 102000 2018 Code of Practise for the Provision of Investigative Services. This gives recommendations for the conduct, management, staffing and operational accountability for the provision of investigative services. #BBFI
Garym Lambert, one of our highly skilled investigators, successfully defended a succession claim, and was awarded full costs and outstanding ‘Use and Occupation’ to be paid in the next 2 months. The total amount awarded was £26,213 and the property was handed back.
This is what happens if you drive into central London with a stolen blue badge. Don’t be silly just pay to park. Badge will be seized and driver interviewed about a criminal fraud. BBFI are a NFP working with local councils and local police to protect the disability scheme.
We are pleased to see that the furlough scheme has been extended. But disabled people who are shielding now need an automatic right to furlough so they are not forced to choose between their health and their finances. #Budget2021
