A scoop for all of you.
Justin Ishbia and his 3 kids are sitting in front of me. He went to the store and bought them ALL Murakami jersey’s.
So I asked him if Mune was staying.
Response?
“Not leaving on my watch”.
Man was Duncan Keith fun to watch play the game of ice hockey. He was so OCD about his gear that he had a locker full of sticks in the equipment room where he could signal to trainers “hey fella go get me that Easton from game 6 of the 2013 western conference finals” and the trainer would hurry back with that exact piece of lumber. He was always changing up brands, curves, flexes, length you name it. A complete freak when it came to how detailed he was with his gear. Duncan Keith made me fall in love with hockey. How competitive he was. How good his feet were. How big of a machine he was but most importantly how he never EVER backed down from anybody. DK2 redefined how defenseman defended in the neutral zone. Instead of backing up and angling guys to areas inside their own blue line, Keith would skate forward at guys and a lot of the time cut the ice in half. A tactic in modern day coaches teach called “surfing”. Where he would skate forward at you and not only hold his own blue line but more often than not hold the redline forcing a turnover or an icing. Duncan Keith was so good at it - he modernized the way to play defense. When you look at some of the best defenseman to ever play the game, his name might not be in the first 5-10. But for me the way he changed the game in an era I grew up watching- he is my GOAT. 3 cups. 2 Norris’. 1 Conn Smythe. Cap tip to you #2

Augusta Diaries (Wed)
-Played 9 holes with Phil, DJ, Noah Kent. We had a 9 hole team match, Phil and I vs. DJ and NK. We were tied heading into 9. Phil from the pine straws hit it to tap in with the pin in the middle right tier. Noah Kent also hit a nice shot to about 25 ft. Noah drained the putt to tie the match. Yes, we played for something but we tied and I’m not sharing that detail, sry.
-Phil was just awesome to play a practice round at ANGC. We all know what the pins are and with so much experience here, he told me almost on every green which putt to try, which chip to try, and I tried to soak it all in as much as I could.
-The thing about Augusta is because the slopes are so big and so many funnels, so many shots end up in the same spots. That’s why you hear the saying you don’t read putts, you remember putts at Augusta. You have very similar putts year after year to pins if you play it enough. Phil had lots of notes for many of the putts in his yardage book. This one is slow, this one breaks left here but then breaks back this way. I tried to write down all of them on my book. DJ also was really cool at giving info as well.
-DJ hits that patented cut all the time and it’s exactly how you think it is. I’m very envious of his swing and how easy he makes it look hitting his shots. Noah Kent hits 💣. He was out driving DJ comfortably haha
-I was pretty nervous on that first tee, teeing off with that group and wasn’t comfortable for a few holes but I’m happy with the way I handled it and how my swing felt as I got along the round. It wasn’t an easy day with the wind blowing 10-15 the entire day. The juices got flowing and I feel better prepared for tomorrow.
-Played the par 3 with my dad as my caddie. Tried to make a HIO but didn’t really come that close unfortunately. It’s a really cool par 3 course with a member welcoming you to each hole. I didn’t play it in 2019 so I’m glad I did it this yr. Played with Ben An and Brian Campbell two good friends.
-One of the members on the par 3 was the one in charge of social media and he said he liked my stuff and that it was clever. (Phew) They see everything haha and hopefully I don’t get a phone call or anything about one of my posts haha.
-Looking forward to getting this tournament started. It’s easy to get into the mode of “just glad I’m here” but I want to compete and play well. As long as I keep doing my thing, I feel good about my chances. Time to rest up for an early morning tee time tomorrow.
