Rethinking emergency preparedness... What should patients (who have legally grown their own medicine) do with their crop of medical cannabis if it is damaged by power outages? Something to consider... times have changed but guidelines have not. #ottawatornado
UPDATE Sept.24 10am We are extremely pleased to confirm that all OCH communities have power restored. A HUGE #thankyouottawa + everyone that has gone over & above to provide assistance to tenants in needs during this tragedy. #ONStorm#OttNews#grateful#otttornado@ottawacity
@DrCChambers@PainReportsOPEN@EmilyOWakefield @kidspainmd @DavidYarnitsky@childpainSIG Those of us living with pain, who have children, struggle to help them learn a healthy and productive way of managing their pain. I couldn’t agree more with the findings of this study. Education and awareness need to be a priority.
@MacLeodLisa @BarrhavenJan@KeithEgli Shout out to City of Ottawa for establishing a Vulnerable Persons Taskforce and the Ottawa Search and Rescue volunteer group, who are conducting wellness checks - Bless you all!
@liveplanbe I’m not sure how I feel about it. I agree we need to rethink the way we treat Pain, but this almost goes too far in making it the patient’s job to overcome pain... alone that is a very challenging proposition.
@SteveClarkPC@JimWatsonOttawa@fordnation @MacLeodLisa @DrFullertonMPP @gghamari@JR_Ottawa I hope the provincial government will learn from this experience and ensure revisions to municipal preparedness plans - taking into account new prescribing guidelines. #ChronicPain patients caught without medications are at risk.
@miketherien@JimWatsonOttawa@fordnation Agreed, but I hope the provincial government will learn from this experience and ensure revisions to municipal preparedness plans - taking into account new prescribing guidelines. #ChronicPain patients caught without medications are at risk.
Live in a high-rise or multi-unit complex? Still without power? Check on your neighbours – especially if you are aware that they have mobility or other health issues. If there are any concerns call 3-1-1. If it is a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 #ottawa#ottnews#OttawaOutage
@ottawacity @BarrhavenCPC Thank you for this important guidance! You would be amazed how many chronically ill patients are unprepared for emergencies that last longer than 24hrs.
Please call 3-1-1 for transportation to an emergency shelter, if you have a failing medical device that needs charging or to report storm-related issues, including fallen trees. If you don't need immediate assistance, please call later. Call 9-1-1 if you have a medical emergency.
