joining MakersPlace in 2022 was one of the best things to happen in my professional career. After the layoff in 2023, I was so excited to join the team again this past November. I will forever be grateful for the experiences and connections made because of MP. Thank you 🫶🏾
1/6 MakersPlace Announces Market Exit 🔳
After 6 incredible years of supporting digital art, MakersPlace is ceasing operations. Here’s what it means for our artists, collectors, and supporters—and how we’re ensuring a smooth transition. 🧵↴
not sure how many people knew this, but, i've worked at @MakersPlace officially since may 7th, 2021 (and worked with them unofficially as their first ever ambassador since early 2019). shortly after joining i made a new twitter account (@JaridMP) to keep my mp job and my art job apart, so, that's why this might be a surprise to some.
i can't begin to describe how life changing MP has been for me. beyond my employment there for the past 4 years, MP pretty much launched my professional art career. i minted my first nft on MP, made my first sale on MP, was able to afford the downpayment on a house from art sales that happened through MP, got to be featured and sold a piece at @Sothebysverse (mostly thanks to @letsglitchit, but, the network the MP granted me probably helped here a bit), met so many amazing artists, friends, collectors, builders, dreamers, colleagues, and people who I now consider to be family, all from this little website called MakersPlace.
i'm feeling a lot of things right now, but mostly, i am feeling gratitude. thank you to yash, @ryomaito, and @dannieb for giving me a shot back in the day. thank you to @AnnMarieAlanes for being such an amazing friend and support back in the earliest of days, and thank you to the wonderful early artist friends i made (@10tinbluebirds, @Origamiplan, @xelda45, @joeychips, @FtrSaroth, @RageOfPotato, @CyberShakti, @NicoOptical, @Reinhard_Schmid, @Gala_Mirissa and many many others). thanks to @aishacarmen555 for helping me bridge being an artist on MP to being an employee and for being the most awesome OG MP staff member (and one of the best). thanks to best colleagues someone could ask for, and if you are hiring right now please hire all of these people, @Kat_MakersPlace, @nanimalisimo, @DigitalArt_ETH, @CaitlinS_NFT, @jmarinaro220, @MPMarieWebst, @ParinHeidari, @bradyevanwalker, @CEnevoldsen, @brunorsini, @AndreCamara, @matusevich_it, @RDToTheMoon, @gregrha, @konerusudhir, @BBreelynn, @craiglpalmer, and others who i might have missed or not on twitter.
i am sure there are others i should be tagging and thanking, but honestly, my head is a bit of a mess right now. over the next few months i will be moving my MP mints over to @sealed_art, the things @robek_world and their team are doing over there are what this space needs right now (imo). if you see anything of mine on mp you want lemme know and i can prioritize getting it listed on sealed.
i probably have more to say, but, i'll keep it at that for now. if you are hiring or know of any web3/art opportunities let me know. and most of all, thank you @MakersPlace.
Thank you.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett: "There has been no oppression for the white man in this country ... it is white men on this side of the aisle telling us, people of color on this side of the aisle, that y'all are the ones being oppressed."
"My wife was miscarrying and bleeding out. Her life was in danger, and for the government to say, 'Oh, we need to evaluate this to make sure you're sufficiently dying before you can have an abortion.' ... No, stay out of it! That's crazy, and overturning Roe v. Wade, Trump wants to claim credit for it." - @johnlegend

BREAKING: The Central Park 5 just sued Donald Trump for falsely stating they had pleaded guilty to a crime during the September 10th debate on ABC News.
"You are one of the most privileged people to ever sit in that chair. You are a charlatan and you’re going to prison."
The statement made by the judge in her sentencing was one of the most excoriating things I've ever heard.
It's worth watching.
So it finally happened.
I asked someone "Hey, how are you?" as we normally do out of habit.
They responded "not well actually"
I asked if they wanted to talk about it. They said "I think so" so I listened to a stranger, for 20 mins.
They gave me a big hug & thanked me after🥹
