We had a heavenly experience this week on the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, meeting with 114 faithful missionaries from Haiti.

Missionaries in Haiti have not had the opportunity to meet with a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for many years—certainly more than a decade. 

It was my sacred privilege to personally convey the love, gratitude, and admiration of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for these amazing disciples of Jesus Christ. 

Their devotion to the Savior and His work is inspiring to witness.

In fact, Paul gave you another option.

Did you notice what Paul said?

“Let them marry.”

Not:

“Let them fornicate.”

Not:

“Let them watch pornography.”

Not:

“Let them masturbate.”

LET THEM MARRY.

If you are struggling with sexual desire, God's answer is not to surrender yourself to sexual immorality.

Instead of fornication, pursue marriage.

Instead of pornography, pursue holiness.

Instead of masturbating, exercise self-control and, if you desire marriage, pursue it honorably.

Paul had already said:

But here's the part we must not ignore:

Marriage is not permission to live according to your lust.

Marriage is a covenant.

You don't marry simply because you are horny. You marry because you are ready for commitment, responsibility, faithfulness, sacrifice and love.

God created sexual intimacy.

He also created the right place for it.

So don't make your sexual desires your master.

You can have desires without obeying every desire.

You can be tempted without falling.

You can walk in purity.

And if you desire marriage, pursue it God's way.

Your body may have desires, but those desires were never meant to become your god.

We have Christians who are addicted to pornography and masturbation.

Yes, Christians.

People who attend church.
People who worship.
People who pray.
People who read the Bible.
People who serve in church.

And some of them are fighting this battle in secret, because they are too ashamed to tell anyone.

We need to stop pretending that every Christian has everything figured out.

Pornography and masturbation are not harmless habits. They can become strongholds that affect your mind, your desires, your relationships and your walk with God.

The Bible says:

“Flee fornication.” — 1 Corinthians 6:18

“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” — Galatians 5:16

“Make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” — Romans 13:14

If you are struggling with this, don't run away from God because you are ashamed. Run to God because you need His help.

Confess it.
Repent.
Cut off the things that keep feeding the habit.
Stop making provision for the flesh.
Seek accountability.
Renew your mind with the Word of God.
And keep walking with Christ.

Grace is not a licence to continue in sin. Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and live righteously. — Titus 2:11–12

There is no victory in hiding.

Bring the battle into the light. Christ did not save you so that you could remain a slave to what He came to set you free from.
