An underrated way of overcoming overthinking is by deploying Magical Thinking.
There is nothing that breaks the spell of the "rational" thinking mind better than the counterspell of "irrational" thinking.
An example of this is the use of a Magical Object to counter the tendency towards overthinking.
One can buy - or better yet seek out in their environment - an object that they find magically inspiring.
It could be things like a discarded bird's feather, a beautiful crystal, something made from the wood of a tree you love, or a ritual object like a cross or a vajra or a magic wand.
When you find yourself over-thinking or find your nervous system over-loaded you can hold the object and feel yourself casting out the excess thought-energy or nervous-energy into the object.
This method works so well precisely because it ruptures the logic of the thinking mind.
The rational mind is something of a closed system which is why thoughts so often run around in endless closed loops.
Introducing an irrational logic allows for an escape route from this loop.
Having an object outside the body that you can place internal energy formalizes this escape route physically by showing a place the energy can go without just being circulated endlessly in the mindbody.
The more absurd and fanciful this idea seems to your logical mind, the more likely it is to work for you.
@tedcruz You think bombs are going to make a country do whatever you want? That just makes the survivors more determined enemies. You should focus on building relationships, not trying to force other people to your will.
Psychoanalysts are fond of pointing out that the past is alive in the present. But the future is alive in the present too.The future is not some place we're going to, but an idea in our mind now. It is something we're creating, that in turn creates us.

Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.
Franz Kafka
I became a psychotherapist because I so love the imagination. William Blake says: โThe Imagination is not a State: it is the Human Existence itselfโ For me, psychotherapy is essentially an affair of images โ of how we imagine and, more important, reimagine ourselves.~Vannoy Adams
@Austin_Police cbs austin says someone shot at two fire stations and another guy who's in the hospital now.

@Fried_rice I feel bad for the company, and for whoever made this mistake. Hopefully Anthropic can recover - I'm sure they have lots of other interesting ideas.
