Tisha Campbell says she has been diagnosed with AuDHD after a year of specialist evaluations.

Speaking with Angela Yee, the actress said she saw two specialists and completed a full battery of assessments. “I took 12 tests each, and they all vary from oral tests to written tests to just Q&As,” she said. “I took all 12 twice, and I just got my diagnosis back.”

The diagnosis, she explained, is AuDHD. “I have AuDHD, which is a newer diagnosis where you have partial ADHD and autism. So I have a lot of autistic tendencies, and I’m level one.”

Campbell said the condition is not always visible. “I may not look like I need support, but I have earphones to block out sounds because I, too, have audio processing differences. Everything comes at me all at once.”

She also discussed special interests and masking. “A lot of autistic people have… they used to call them obsessions or fixations, but we call them special interests now. And my special interest was always acting and music.”

The diagnosis came after she finished her book. “I got the diagnosis after I wrote the book, so that part’s not even in the book,” she said. “I feel like I know myself so much better.”

Campbell added that she had spent years hiding her stimming. “Growing up in Newark, you couldn’t be different. Back in the day when I grew up, you couldn’t stand out like that. So I’ve been masking my entire…”
