@poet1cinjustic3 like ug rappers talking shit abt some teen kpop artist cause he says he's a fan isnโt a moral crusade to protect independent artists, itโs just ego & an easy target. kpop takes so much from black creators so we shit on em when they shout out their influences? it achieves nothing
this whole discourse is disingenous when ug is full of mediocre yt rappers and we're pretending this shit is coming from a place of genuine industry criticism not just ego
or maybe itโs because underground rappers know cortis is just blatantly ripping off travis scott and other mainstream rappers so obviously they donโt respect their music what
@poet1cinjustic3 yeah ug is majority black etc. but feel like we can't ignore the longstanding discourse that all u need to make it out the ug is be a twinky yt boy. anyway my main thing is this all feels like it has just become virtue signalling

@N_Revy I did not know his history but you can tell, the second hand embarrassment reading something so embroiled in getting out cutting one liners it taints even subjective criticism is sad - also his description of teezo as a 'fashion rap cornball' sits really uncomfortable with me
it's always so interesting to read something so obviously written with a presumptive high ground of taste above the art they are reviewing, the snark undertones throughout ultimately do not present it as critical but patronising... hard read tbh
@gllitdove ibr using any aussie school's weekly merit end of year award as proof of being educated is like flexing how many gold stars you got on your preschool good behaviour chart on your linkedin,,,
