The XG: The Core concert held at Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 17 was an extremely disappointing experience. Apart from the artistsโ performances themselves, the event was a complete disaster. The following feedback is divided into two sections: the event organiser, KHAM Inc., and XGALX.
Event Organiser: KHAM Inc.
1. Late Announcement of the Event Scheduleโฌ๏ธ
The schedule for the concert was not announced until noon on the day before the event, causing considerable inconvenience for fans travelling from outside Taipei who needed to plan their itineraries in advance.
2. Inadequate Promotional Displays Outside the Venueโฌ๏ธ
On the day of the concert, there was virtually no promotional setup outside Taipei Arena apart from a single backdrop wall. Compared with the arrangements for concerts at other venues, the setup was extremely underwhelming and demonstrated a clear lack of effort on the organiserโs part.
3. Serious Lighting Control Issues During the Performanceโฌ๏ธ
One of the most widely criticised aspects of the concert was the lighting control during XGโs performance. For the duration of three consecutive songs, there were no lighting effects whatsoever. As a result, fans in attendance were unable to properly see the performance and, in some cases, could not even make out the membersโ facial expressions or positions on stage.
4. Malfunctions of the Large LED Screensโฌ๏ธ
The large LED screens malfunctioned during the concert. Not only were incorrect background videos displayed at inappropriate times and during the wrong songs, but both the left and right screens went completely dark during the encore and remained blank until the end of the concert.
5. Lack of Communication Regarding Centralised Control of Official Light Sticksโฌ๏ธ
Before the concert, the organiser failed to clarify whether the official light sticks would be centrally controlled during the performance. Consequently, the light sticks of fans in attendance remained offline for most of the concert. Had the organiser informed fans in advance that the light sticks would not be centrally controlled, fans could have used the manual mode to coordinate their fan chants and light-stick responses according to each song, rather than having the manual functionality effectively locked out.
6. Collaboration video filmed with a controversial artist after the concertโฌ๏ธ
After the concert, the members were filmed in a collaboration video with an artist who has been involved in highly controversial conduct and has engaged in behavior widely regarded as reprehensible. This decision was deeply disappointing and raised further concerns among fans.
The feedback above has been compiled from comments and opinions shared by fans who attended the concert. There were also numerous other aspects of the eventโs organisation that left fans dissatisfied. Fans attending the Taipei show spent a considerable amount of money to attend this concert, yet the overall experience fell far below an acceptable standard. This is particularly concerning for VIP ticket holders, who paid nearly NT$8,000(about 246 USD)for the concert and were still subjected to such a disappointing experience.
