Salmon have returned to Still Creek in Vancouver!
🌊 Still Creek is an urban watercourse with a sensitive ecosystem. We encourage people and their pets to stay above the top of the bank when viewing, and to please not enter the creek.
Metro Vancouver Emergency Management staff took to the air today to monitor the flow of debris from the Chilcotin River landslide in the Fraser River. Debris has made its way as far as Langley, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Surrey.
Water and debris from the Chilcotin River landslide has now reached the Fraser River.
This video from early this afternoon shows why we remain on alert and people must keep off the river.

@ECCCWeatherBC: out of curiosity, was the Dec 26 2022 special weather statement warning of coastal flooding one of the first times ECCC has issued a coastal flood warning in BC?
The tide was high, but we were holding on. The king tide peaked at 9:40 am and City and @ParkBoard staff worked hard responding to localized flooding. As waters recede, please be careful near the water or floodplains, obey any closure signs and don't drive through flooded roads.
Environment Canada has issued warnings that heavy rain tomorrow may cause localized flooding in #MetroVan. Coastal flooding is also expected to impact low-lying areas near the immediate coast due to high winds and extra high tides, peaking ~9am on Tuesday. #BCStorm

#KingTides and strong winds are expected today and tomorrow.
King Tides are predictable occurrences of unusually elevated tides. However, combined with strong winds, it may be dangerous near the water. Please use caution and stay safe out there! #CityofVancouver#ExtremeWeather

Burnaby's flag encapsulates the city's breathtaking natural beauty, from the salt waters of the Burrard Inlet to the north, the fresh currents of the Fraser to the south, and the lands in between.
It's no wonder that our flag is considered the best in BC: https://t.co/Er4PVNXFHz
