Good news in the Brazilian Amazon. Deforestation declined 11% from August 2021-July 2022 compared to the year prior. There is still a long way to go, of course.

📣 "Carbon market proposals for partnering with Indigenous Peoples must begin with respect of their land rights and #DeepRoots. ☝️That is the only guarantee that forests will remain standing".

#ICYMI: (1) keeping #forests intact is most effective #climateaction (2) planting trees does not compensate 4 forests lost & (3) focusing on restored ecosystem outcomes & benefits are better indicators than # trees planted - if climate & people matter! https://t.co/mfgoGBtPx2
Forests play a critical role in meeting global climate goals, & we are pleased to join @FSC_IC in convening a diverse set of voices to turn ideas into action & drive forest-based climate solutions. https://t.co/QEUUhHvocd
Intact forest landscapes are some of the world's most important ecosystems, but they’re increasingly under threat.
The latest data on GFW reveals that the world lost 12% of the area that could be considered intact forest between 2000-20. That's more than 2x the size of Chile.
What will it take to close the nature restoration funding gap? As COP27 and discussions on climate finance continue, Palladium's Managing Director explains that closing that gap will require finding and funding projects that restore nature and supporting them to scale up.
Three of the world's largest #rainforest nations have formally launched a partnership to cooperate on #forest#conservation. Brazil, Indonesia & the Democratic Republic of Congo signed the joint statement ahead of the #G20 which starts tomorrow.

In voluntary carbon markets, we’ve long seen that climate is the bait and co-benefits are the real hook. We're so pleased to be part of @FSC_IC's Climate Coalition ensuring that indigenous peoples, smallholders & forest stewards benefit from carbon finance https://t.co/cDi5IxTe3J
