The storms last night rolled along I-70; we chose to drive north and got rewarded with an amazing sunset near Craig, MO. This cell formed and had some very loose rotation, then slowly dissipated as the southern storms cut off the moisture. @NWSKansasCity@StormHour
I see people griping over $28 dollar lunches and I get it. It can be expensive to eat out all the time.
31 years ago when I first started my career, I was single and stupid & ate out all the time. A $13 lunch wasn't unheard of, although I could get a value meal for a few bucks, but that was fast food that I didn't really want to eat every day.
And 13 bucks in 95 is the same as $28 today.
Later, I met my wife and we continued the trend of eating out all the time until we calculated what we spent on it and realized we were eating the equivalent of a good, used car each year.
So we started meal planning. Sure, it took a few hours each week with planning the meals, grocery shopping, & cooking, but then we had leftovers each day. Saved SO much money that way.
And it turned out to be enjoyable. We started eating much better and opened up our tastes to so many new things.
My eldest learned from us and when she was away at college (and this was just a few years ago), we gave her $140 a month for food.
She specifically made dishes that would last 2 or 3 days and she wasn't just eating ramen, she ate *well*.
I don't fault younger adults for complaining about prices. Yes, things have gotten a bit more expensive.
I only fault those who are complaining about the cost of having avocado toast dashed to their house daily.
There are ways to lower your food costs, but it takes effort and today's generation gets no leeway in abdicating that effort.
Severe weather continues to be expected this afternoon and evening. All severe hazards (large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes) will be possible. Stay weather aware today! #kswx#mowx#kc
And from yesterday (April 14, 2026), outside Vinton IA … I love tornado grabs, but the back side of a severe storm is magic. #thunderstorm#stormchase@NWSQuadCities
... HAD to explain this warranty to me. I said no thanks. He insisted again. I put the camera back on the counter and said "Nevermind, I'll buy it from @amazon instead." Exit->. SO instead of a $150 sale, and no warranty... your net profit was $0. Brilliant. #AnotherMediaPlay
In other customer service news... @BestBuy ... you're doing a great job of actively pushing customers away. Stopped in today to pick up a new dash cam. Your sales clerk started on the extended warranty spiel. I said no thanks. He kept going. I said no thanks. He insisted he...
… without three days to investigate. I drive this truck daily. I can’t be without it for three business days while they diddle. So I’ll bite the bullet, pay for the fix, and never buy another @NissanUSA - and will make sure I spread that word. When this one dies it’ll be Toyota.
Well, @NissanUSA has decided a quick buck beats customer loyalty. On my third #Nissan, a 23 #Frontier#Pro4x. 61,900 miles and the transmission pan is leaking. It’s just past warranty, ended at 60,000. Corporate is unwilling to give a clear answer on a goodwill discount …
Ahh, @Target on a Sunday. Fifteen people in line. Eight unstaffed registers. One cashier for six self checkouts, two of which are flashing red because they’re stuck figuring out a price error…
@ItsRobbAllen@vertex We got a mini for “camping”. It’s in standby mode ($5/mo, 500kb unlimited service) til season comes around and then it’s $50/mo for full speed and 100GB. Runs on an Anker pack. Brilliant arrangement.
Time lapse of the #AuroraBorealis at Smithville Lake, MO, taken 12 November 2025, from approximately 7pm to 9pm.

Dear @discoveryplus … your site is broken. I’m sure it’s just an oversight of course, that the button to cancel a subscription is non-functional. I had to waste ten minutes of my morning arguing with a chatbot instead. Never again.
Yet again, @Verizon is failing. I'm up to seven hours of SOS/NO SERVICE messages. I can't log in to complain at them because the MFA requires a texted code. I wonder what kind of deal I can get from @ATT@FirstNet ...
