@jeffwilcox@Nerd4Cities Shoutout to PNW for topping the list! Seattle stadium is great and I really want to do the Vancouver one sometime. My local Levi’s Stadium in D makes sense especially for anyone silly enough to stay in SF. I’m going to 1 game just because it’s so close! 🤩
Looks like it's the end of the road for Tweetfave, a victim of the new API pricing. Wrap-up blog post to come. Tweetfave launched 10 years ago today, had over 300 people try it, and handled almost 1.5M tweets!
It took me a while to get back to it (measured in months), but I finally fixed an email delivery bug that was affecting most Tweetfave subscribers, now we’re all back to normal!
This is a neat idea for keeping 1:1 conversations better organized... I was a slow convert to using threads in team channels but now can really see the benefits
"Async" Slack channels are one of our secret weapons at @beondeck
After using them for ~18 months, I can't imagine Slack without them. Particularly now— operating 100% remote with 62 teammates in 14 timezones.
Here's the "how it works" post I use to open each new 1:1 channel 👇
@Nate75Sanders@shirleman Agree - I love any interview feedback a company is willing to give, but for me the minimum bar is just yes/no - if it's not a good fit or what not, just let me know and we can all move on :)
This was a surprise, just 380 days after applying for this job :) I guess on the plus side, it's nice to hear back rather than being ghosted like so many companies...
My final tripping point with Evernote - a few years ago the free plan became limited to 2 devices, but it always worked with my phone, tablet and one web browser - now they've clamped down on that too. For the amount I'm using it, $8/month is not worth it
...and finally Breaking Down Gates with @elchefe is a timely discussion about breaking down barriers in tech and why it's important to focus not just on hiring, but also retention and promotion https://t.co/KJ9opjCp1Y
Recently got caught up with the excellent @ArrestedDevOps podcast - a few favorite episodes include an interesting group discussion of Incident Retrospectives https://t.co/LQey9dibts
...with all tech conferences going virtual this year, hearing how the DevOps Days Chicago team pulled theirs together is really interesting - they took a lot of care and attention to make it much more engaging than just hosting videos online https://t.co/ue6eLNvXDy
Happy to see my company doing this for our Seattle area employees... "Tableau, the data software company headquartered in Fremont, spearheaded an astonishing 3,500 takeout dinners for its employees across 40 Seattle-area restaurants." https://t.co/sJPwVVeA9y
Tonight's project is finding all the ebooks and courses I've bought but never finished (or even started!) - hopefully can do some catch up over the holidays. So far on @gumroad alone I've found 6 unread ebooks and 2 unfinished video courses 😅
I'm really enjoying Web Performance Calendar 2020 brought to us by @stoyanstefanov with guest authors like @patmeenan (Web Vitals), @addyosmani (lazy load assets), & @rick_viscomi ("fast" pages). Recommend it highly:
