It reached Massachusetts on Feb. 6, 1978, and the snow did not stop falling for 32 hours. When it was over, 73 lives were lost and hundreds of houses destroyed.

Dump trucks with the unload on the dune fronts at Sandy Neck Beach to build them back after winter erosion. The sand was dredged from Barnstable Harbor and then stored in the parking lot. It's dark color will bleach out after exposure to the sun. @capecodtimes
