BC Green Caucus remembers former Premier John Horgan
VICTORIA, B.C. - BC Green Caucus MLAs Rob Botterell and Jeremy Valeriote send their condolences to the family of former Premier John Horgan on his passing, and celebrate his contributions to British Columbia.
“From his steady hand through the first years of the COVID-19 pandemic, to his leadership on Indigenous Reconciliation, Premier Horgan guided our province through many challenges, and BC is better for it," said Rob Botterell, MLA for Saanich North and the Islands.
BC Green Leader Sonia Furstenau is speaking with media for the first time since the provincial election, amid speculation about a possible minority government.

In 2021, 619 British Columbians lost their lives in a heat wave the province was not prepared for. Little has been done to prevent losses like this. Did you know that the @bcgreenscaucus’s Clean Air Act proposed measures to protect those most vulnerable to heat waves?
“The reality that Silas [my son] is now a young man and my daughter is starting high school. They don’t know a man who hasn’t served in politics.” @AdamPOlsen
“For Adam and for me, the seat is not the destination, the seat is the vehicle for service. For me, one of the greatest gifts of the last seven years was Adam’s friendship.” - @SoniaFurstenau
Campaign Announcement: @AdamPOlsen has decided not to run in the upcoming election. Over his 16 years in the public sector, Adam has influenced many positive changes in BC. He will continue working with the BC Greens transitioning to a behind-the-scenes roll as our Campaign Chair
"Sonia Furstenau says Greens still debating details of party election platform, but basic income proposal likely to target three vulnerable groups... people with disabilities, women fleeing domestic violence, and youth aging out of care."

“Between her overlapping roles as party leader and MLA, Furstenau herself does not get a three-day weekend. But she says she still sees benefits. “I am the happiest boss, I think, in the whole place,” she says. “Our staff are healthy and happy."

We received feedback that our background song choice was insensitive, and we apologize for that. Here’s a new version. The bad acting remains. For better or worse, we’re legislators, not Academy Award winners.

@westcoastgirl1@BCGreens @SoniaFurstenau Thanks for the tag 💚While many of our policies overlap, the federal and provincial Greens each have separate leaders, and separate parties.
“In the B.C. legislature earlier this month, Furstenau called on Premier David Eby to prevent greenwashing from the fossil fuel industry, noting that Canada Action Coalition had also used images of and quotes from the premier… in its advertising.”
