Honoured to host the Ministry of Industry, Government of Maharashtra, in Osaka, Japan. On stage were the Secretary of Industries, CEO of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Consul General of India, and President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce Japan.

Being from Maharashtra myself, it was truly special to see my home state take the spotlight on an international platform. This event was organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce Japan (ICCJ) with the support of the Consulate General of India, Osaka-Kobe, and provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen Indo-Japan collaboration, explore investment opportunities, and support Japanese companies in one of India’s most vibrant states.

It was a pleasure to host a high-profile delegation from the Ministry of Industries, Government of Telangana State, India, comprising the Special Chief Secretary, the Commissioner of Industries, and other senior officers.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce - Japan @iccj1937 organised this event in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, Osaka-Kobe @IndianConsOsaka. The investment opportunities for Japanese businesses in Telangana were discussed.

昨日、京都大学の調査船に乗って、最後の海洋魚類サンプリングに参加しました🚢！ 私が研究しているヒラメをはじめ、さまざまな海洋生物を採集しました。ある先生が写真を撮ってくださり、後で送ってくださったおかげで、思い出深い一日になりました。
この船は、私にとって特別な思い出が詰まった場所です。
2006年にMEXT奨学金を受けて博士課程で来日して以来、50回以上この船に乗ってサンプリングを行ってきました。
何度も乗り込んだこの甲板、朝焼けの海、仲間との笑い声、そして温かく見守ってくださった先生方への感謝の気持ち――全てが宝物のような記憶です。
感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです🙏❤️
Yesterday, I joined my final marine fish sampling aboard a Kyoto University research vessel 🚢!
We collected Japanese flounder—the species I’m researching—along with various other marine organisms. Thanks to a professor who kindly took photos and shared them with me later, it turned out to be a truly memorable day.
This vessel holds a very special place in my heart.
Since coming to Japan in 2006 as a MEXT PhD scholar, I’ve boarded this vessel for sampling more than 50 times.
The deck I stepped onto so many times, the sunrise over the sea, the laughter shared with colleagues, and the warm support of the professors—each of these moments is a treasured memory.
I’m filled with gratitude 🙏❤️

जर बाबा हयात असते, तर आज त्यांचा ८१ वा वाढदिवस असता. त्यांच्या वाढदिवसाच्या दिवशी, त्यांच्या विषयी काही माहिती शेअर करावी असे वाटले.

माझे वडील (बाबा), किशनराव एल. भंडारे, नांदेड जिल्ह्यात पोलिस खात्यात कार्यरत होते. मी नेहमी बाबांशी तासन्‌तास बोलत असे, विशेषतः त्यांच्या बालपणाबद्दल आणि पोलिस दलातल्या त्यांच्या अनुभवांबद्दल ते मला भरपूर आठवणी सांगत असत.

एकदा बाबांनी मला त्यांची पोलिस खात्यात निवड कशी झाली याबद्दल सांगितले होते. त्यांचा जन्म १९४४ साली झाला आणि त्यांनी बालपण अशा काळात घालवले जेव्हा जातीवर आधारित भेदभाव आणि अस्पृश्यता गावांमध्ये अत्यंत सामान्य आणि स्वाभाविक मानली जात होती. अनुसूचित जातीमध्ये जन्म घेतल्यामुळे, त्यांच्या बालपणात त्यांनाही हेच भोगावे लागले.

एकदा, जेव्हा बाबा सातव्या इयत्तेत होते, तेव्हा शाळेत काही मुलांनी जातीय शिवीगाळ केल्यामुळे त्यांच्यात भांडण आणि नंतर मारामारी झाली. बाबा त्यांच्या वयाच्या मुलांपेक्षा शारीरिकदृष्ट्या खूप ताकदवान होते. त्या झटापटीत अनेक मुले जखमी झाली आणि बाबांना पोलिसांच्या ताब्यात देण्यात आले. चौकशी दरम्यान पोलिस निरीक्षक (पोलीस ठाण्याचे प्रमुख) त्यांच्या धैर्याने, बुद्धिमत्तेने, ज्ञानाने आणि विशेषतः इंग्रजी भाषेवरील प्रभुत्वाने खूप प्रभावित झाले. गुन्हा फारसा गंभीर नसल्यामुळे आणि बाबा अल्पवयीन असल्यामुळे त्यांची सुटका झाली. पण त्या निरीक्षकांनी बाबांची माहिती जिल्हा पोलिस अधीक्षकांकडे पाठवली. पोलिस विभागाला धाडसी, बुद्धिमान आणि शारीरिकदृष्ट्या सक्षम व्यक्तींची गरज होती, म्हणून बाबांना कोणतीही औपचारिक परीक्षा न देता पोलिस नोकरीची संधी देण्यात आली. आर्थिकदृष्ट्या खूप गरिब असल्यामुळे ही संधी बाबांसाठी फार मौल्यवान होती, परंतु त्यामुळे त्यांचे हायस्कूलचे शिक्षण अपूर्ण राहिले. नंतरच्या काळात त्यांनी पार्टटाईम विद्यार्थी म्हणून आपले शालेय आणि विद्यापीठ शिक्षण पूर्ण केले. पोलिस खात्यात त्यांनी पोलीस शिपाई म्हणून सुरुवात केली आणि सहाय्यक पोलीस उपनिरीक्षक या पदावरून सेवानिवृत्त झाले.

जरी ही बाब सर्वांसाठी लागू पडते असं म्हणणं योग्य ठरणार नाही, तरी सर्वसाधारणपणे असा समज होता (किंवा अजूनही आहे) की पोलिस कर्मचाऱ्यांची मुले, विशेषतः "पोलीस बॉईज", बहुतांश वेळा उद्धट, नियंत्रणाबाहेर आणि 'चांगले शिक्षण घेणे व उज्वल करिअर घडवण्याच्या बाबतीत कमकुवत' असतात. बाबांना याची चांगलीच जाणीव होती, त्यामुळे त्यांनी कधीच मला (आणि आमच्या कुटुंबाला) पोलीस कॉलनीत राहू दिले नाही. तसेच आमच्या शिक्षणात अडथळा होऊ नये म्हणून त्यांनी आम्हाला आपल्या बदलीच्या गावात घेऊन जाणे टाळले.

आपल्या व्यस्त शासकीय कामाच्या वेळापत्रकातसुद्धा त्यांनी कविता रचण्यासाठी आणि पुस्तके वाचण्यासाठी वेळ काढला. बाबांनी त्यांच्या हयातीत शेकडो कविता आणि भीमगीते रचली (आणि माझी आई ती भीमगीते भजनांत गात असे). त्या काळात बरेच लोक बाबांच्या गीतांच्या वह्या वाचनासाठी घेऊन जात असत पण मला वाटत नाही की त्यांना कधी त्या परत मिळाल्या. बाबांनी रचलेल्या गीतांवर आईला गर्व वाटायचा आणि आईच्या गोड गायनावर बाबांचे प्रेम होते. आणि मी शाळेत असताना, भजनामध्ये आईच्या शेजारी बसून, 'बाबा-रचित' आणि 'आईच्या सुरांमधील' गीतांना कोरस देताना मला खूप आनंद वाटायचा, आणि आई-बाबा दोघांवर गर्वही वाटायचा.

बाबांशी जुडलेल्या अनेक आठवणी माझ्या मनात आहेत. कधीतरी मला बाबांच्या (आणि आईच्या) आठवणी एखाद्या पुस्तकात लिहाव्यात असे वाटते.

माझे आणि बाबांचे नाते केवळ वडील-मुलाचे न राहता एक सुंदर मैत्रीचे देखील होते. बाबांना जाऊन जवळपास ९ वर्षे झाली.

आज त्यांच्या वाढदिवसाच्या निमित्ताने, त्यांच्या स्मृतींना उजाळा देत त्यांचे आयुष्य साजरे करतो.

Did you know there’s a giant broken chair standing right in front of the United Nations office in Geneva? 🪑🌍

At first glance, it might just look like an unusual piece of art, but it carries a powerful message. The Broken Chair stands as a striking reminder of the devastating impact of landmines and cluster munitions on innocent civilians, symbolizing the delicate balance between vulnerability and resilience.

The actual message displayed next to the chair reads:

"AGAINST THE USE OF ARMED VIOLENCE ON CIVILIANS

Broken Chair is a symbol of both fragility and strength, precariousness and stability, brutality and dignity.

Originally conceived by Handicap International with the aim of urging nations to ban anti-personnel mines (in 1997) and cluster munitions (in 2008), Broken Chair is an ongoing symbol of the desperate cry of war-torn civilian populations.

鍵山秀三郎先生が先月亡くなられたことを知り、とても悲しく思いました😭💐先生の掃除や規律に関する教えは本当に心に響き、何度かお会いして一緒に時間を過ごせたことは貴重な経験でした。先生の謙虚さや知恵、そして世界を良くしようとする姿勢は、私に大きな影響を与えてくれました。先生はもういませんが、その教えや考え方はこれからも多くの人の心に残り続けるでしょう。心からご冥福をお祈りし、先生の素晴らしい教えを大切にしていきたいと思います !
I am deeply saddened to hear that Kagiyama Hidesaburo-sensei passed away last month 😭💐
His teachings on cleanliness and discipline truly resonate with me, and having the opportunity to meet and spend time with him several times was a precious experience. His humility, wisdom, and dedication to making the world a better place have had a profound impact on my life. Although he is no longer with us, his teachings and philosophy will continue to remain in the hearts of many. I sincerely express my heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and hope to cherish and carry forward the wonderful lessons he imparted.
