@boxbreds @nut_history Don’t think about teleporting him from the 1920’s to the 2020’s. Think about his skill set. He has all the skills to be a ball player. That always translates. Greatness translates to ANY ERA. He was great. Just know the same will hold true for todays great players in 50+ yrs.

@deadlegends_ I hate comparing eras in sports because so much changes. The fans hold tight to their generation’s players. For me, I think he would be great as would almost all great players. Greatness translates. Great players adapt. He would be great.

@nut_history The Hall of Fame is a special honor for a player. There may be years where for one reason or another a writer may feel there isn’t a deserving player. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

@markmulder20 @gkirb98 I don’t blame the kid. This is how the game is now and I’m sure how he has been coached. In his mind, 90 - 100 pitches is the end of the line. No pitchers finish games today. I’m not in favor of abusing arms, In his mind he’s not built for more than 100

@NYNJHarper I think it’s fair to ask why the pitchers don’t retaliate. It’s fair to ask why Buck doesn’t publicly get more upset. If Alonso is really mad and thinks he’s being targeted he should charge the mound and go after one of the pitchers. He should defend himself.

@Buster_ESPN Unfortunately the GM leading the charge is the same one that traded JD Davis and 3 prospects for Darrin Ruf. I can’t say I’m overly optimistic. Pivoting wasn’t a bad idea. Whether they executed well on these trades will be seen in a couple of years.

@SullyCNBC I suspect the rise in cost is only partially about the demand created by student loans. I’d look into the pension obligations & other long term costs for the schools. Check out the contracts these celebrity professors command. You’re 100% right to focus on cost.

@nut_history The movement toward specialization at such young ages is a negative. Kids should try a lot of different sports so they find what they enjoy. The business side has put lots of pressure to keep up. It boxes out low income families. I coach rec teams & for me, I still keep it fun.

@michael_schlact On the surface it’s not a great look. I didn’t see the game so I’m not going to judge. I know that all pitch counts are equal. I hope the player & coach were all in on the decision to keep going. I hope the kid remains healthy & the only outcome from this game is the W.
