Harrow, north-west London: a 33-year-old Eritrean man, Bruke Desalagne, was found guilty in 2026 of raping an intoxicated older man outside St John’s Church.

The attack happened in July 2025, and the victim was described in reports as being in his 60s.

Bruke Desalagne was not UK-born. He was reported as having come to the UK as a clandestine entrant and claiming asylum. However, his nationality has been disputed. The Eritrean Embassy said in August 2026 that it had no record confirming he was an Eritrean citizen.
