The Honorable Minister @LouisFarrakhan with deep sadness yet with profound gratitude to Allah informs you that his beloved wife of 72 years, the First Lady of the Nation of Islam, Mother Khadijah has returned to Allah (may Allah be pleased).
The family of Tony Brown, the trailblazing black journalist died last week at 93. His "Tony Brown's Journal" was the longest running series in the history of PBS. He was the founding dean of Howard's communication school and later inaugural dean Hampton's journalism school.
In the tradition of the black press, he rejected the activist/journalist distinction. Just one example: In 1963, he helped coordinate a 500,000 person march in Detroit where it is believed Martin Luther King first gave a version of the I Have A Dream speech.
We're currently running a drive to get folks onto the DKMS registry to help find a donor for a bone marrow transplant. Our brother already donated, but he was a half-match, so we are hoping to find a full match for her this time around if possible. Ethnic background plays a huge role in finding donors, so if you are of African American/Nigerian descent, I would greatly appreciate you signing up for a free swab kit to see if you are a match for Chizo or anybody else on the registry. As you can imagine, this is a systemic issue for black folks, so the more people we can get to sign up, the better.

Juneteenth is for Black Americans, specifically Black Texans. You are welcomed to host an event but if it is not catered to Black Americans & Black American culture, don’t label it a Juneteenth event. So no, afrobeats/dancehall/etc. should not be the focus of Juneteenth events
Eleven years ago today, nine Black worshippers were murdered during Bible study at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston.
Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney. Cynthia Hurd. Susie Jackson. Ethel Lance. Rev. Depayne Middleton-Doctor. Tywanza Sanders. Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr. Rev. Sharonda Coleman-Singleton. Myra Thompson.
We say their names and remember the sacredness of their lives.
This was not only a mass shooting. It was a heinous act of white supremacy carried out in a house of worship. We must tell the truth about that hatred, grieve what it stole, and remain committed to dismantling the violence of racism in every form.
