A 70-year-old visitor in the BWCA needed help after a suspected broken leg near Stuart River portage on Sunday.
We reached the injured man and get him to a Duluth hospital. Thankfully, the injuries are not life-threatening.
A successful rescue takes teamwork. In this case, several partner agencies worked together and brought the person to safety. We are always ready to assist.
#SaintPaulMN#Captain Chris Parsons' work meant every Minnesota #firefighter has access to education, prevention and care for the three biggest risks in their profession — cancer, cardiac and emotional trauma, #FireChiefButchInks said.

Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.
Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. Let's take the day to check in on our mental health and our loved ones. Together we can eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health & mental illness.
I’m a paramedic with 18 years experience and a masters degree in conflict resolution. Today I was assaulted at work. Don’t let anyone tell you emergency responders should be able to talk their way out of every situation.
@KSTP This is just simply not okay. The criminal justice system is broken & a joke. My friend & coworker is dead, the person responsible admits to his role & probation is the punishment? This has to change, unacceptable!
LEADERSHIP REMINDER FOR THE WEEK: As long as Integrity, Ethics, Passion and Professionalism serves as your North Star, never ever hesitate to “Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you’ll be criticized anyway”. - Eleanor Roosevelt
“Stop watering rooftops” really caught my attention. SO TRUE!! Roofs are designed to shed water so don’t put the water there - get it to the seat of the fire. That’s where it’ll do the most good.
Heavy duty. By far one of the dumbest things I see in the fire service is aerials way in the air lobbing water down vaguely. Penetration at seat of the fire is goal. Stop watering rooftops and put it inside or at seat where it does some good.
@Thad_Albert @ChiefGaryLudwig@IAFC My first dose was a piece of cake, no issues. The second - another story. Laid me out for 48 hours. No real issues other than fatigue. Glad to be vaccinated!!
2nd dose on board. There is a reason why there is no more polio or smallpox. If you’ve decided not to #vaccinate, please reconsider. Over 400,000 and over 150 #firefighter & #EMS provider deaths is beyond comprehension. #COVID19@IAFC
